in We get the journalism we spend our attention on on Scobleizer
It's worse here. On many occasions, the top news story at 6PM and front page of the newspaper was who the Dolphins or Marlines hired or fired, or what celebrity is on what reality show. Meanwhile, there are wars going on & cops are getting killed.

in The best Fortune Brainstorm Tech Talk: Neil Young challenges tech industry on Scobleizer
Most of the time I'm listening to my iPod at the gym or while jogging with the standard earbuds, so any lack of sound quality isn't really noticeable.

in Hello world from my iPhone on Scobleizer
The iPhone app is great for updating your blog & posting photos, but it doesn't give you a full administrative interface. For full administrative functionality, WPhone is still the way to go. Even though it's web based, it still feels almost as nice as a native app (depending on the responsiveness of your server).

in If you get iPhone 3G: go for white on Scobleizer
When I got into the store they had already sold out of black, so I bought a white one.

in Which US Presidential Candidate has the best tech policy? on Scobleizer
McCain admits he's computer illiterate. That alone makes him unqualified to be president, since he lacks an essential skill for living in the 21st century.

in Now you can cry over heavens on Scobleizer
I cried when I saw the Mac system requirements. Windows XP or Vista running in Boot Camp. Not even VMware or Parallels? What a cop-out. Is that how Microsoft is going to support the Mac in the future?

Why not use LinkedIn? It seems a lot more professional than FaceBook.

in How many services do we need? on Scobleizer
One problem with all of these personal aggregators is duplication of items.

I use Tumblr to aggregate my blog posts, del.icio.us saved items, dugg items, youtube favorites, and newsgator clippings. I also have del.iciou.us post daily links to my blog. Friendfeed will show multiple copies of the same item from several of those sources.

in Guy Kawasaki calls Mike Arrington a hypocrite on Scobleizer
Alltop really needs a mobile version. It looks terrible on an iPhone.

in Yesterday on Scobleizer
The SDK places some very serious limitations on the kind of software we can develop. In particular, it won't allow us to create daemons that run in the background or download additional modules, which means we can't build the product we want to build (Lojack for iPhones).

in Plaxo is better than new Google Calendar sync on Scobleizer
I've had lots of trouble with Plaxo. It completely screwed up my addressbook & iCal calendars a few times. I finally got rid of it. I'd rather just subscribe to my Google calendars in iCal.

in VMWare rocks… on Scobleizer
I own both Parallels & VMware, but right now I prefer Parallels. I don't use Windows very heavily; I usually run Outlook, Visual Studio, and occasional MS Office apps. I find that Parallels integration is nicer and Coherence mode feels smoother than VMware.

My main use of Windows is Visual Studio Team Server for source control (yes, we maintain our Mac source code under Windows). I have my Mac home directory mapped as a network drive in Windows, which I use to check out files. I've always had problems with VSTS giving an error when accessing the Mac drive. The latest version of Parallels is the first time I was able to use either Parallels or VMware without any VSTS errors.

I've even removed my old Office X (which I never bothered upgrading) and I can now have office docs open automatically in Office 2004 in Parallels.

in I want to public domain my RAW photo files on Scobleizer
Picassa won't do it. Their uploader will open a Nikon NEF file but it gets converted to JPEG when uploaded. Flickr's uploaders seem to do the same.

in John Edwards drops out of presidential race on Scobleizer
Good choice. I voted for Obama yesterday. Unfortunately Hillary won our meaningless primary which means no delegates.

I think Obama would be the best person to unite the country and improve the rest of the world's opinion of us. His speech at the 2004 Democratic convention is still one of the best political speeches of recent times.

I just found out about Lijit when I read about it here. It's great! It automatically found all of my profiles just from my usual nickname, including some I forgot about like ma.gnolia & StumbleUpon.

This is a really great shot. I looked at both and I find that SmugMug loads really slowly. I definitely prefer Flickr.

in Coming in 2008: iPhone battery rot? on Scobleizer
No problems here. With average use (about 1 hour a day email/web/phone & 30 minutes or more music playing), I only plug in my iPhone every two days or so and it still has nearly 1/2 charge.

in Steve Ballmer still doesn’t understand social networking on Scobleizer
Look what a huge success "Squirting" has been. Don't we see people squirting music from their Zunes everywhere ;-) That's Microsoft's idea of social networking.

On the other hand, MySpace is the best way for a band to get exposure and spread their music. Almost every band has a MySpace music page. There's very little high tech about it - the community is what makes a difference.

Instead of an AppleTV, I have a Mac Mini connected to my TV. I'm using Elgato's EyeTV 200 as a DVR, and with the latest software I can also watch recordings from my other computers. I only have an older G4 mini which doesn't support Front Row, but a new x86 mini should be even better than an AppleTV.

in Apple has a PR nightmare brewing… on Scobleizer
Mine worked fine. I didn't lose any data. I previously had Installer.app and a few third party applications, but I did a restore before upgrading to 1.1.1. The iPhone did show the activation required screen for a few seconds, but it went away.
