bertuzzi did not shove moores head into the ice. he fell on top of him.

Moores hit on naslund was an apparently "unintentional", well i dont think bertuzzi wanted to hurt moore that bad either ( by that i mean, i dont think he wated moore to fracture his neck when he hit the ice )

both moore and naslund passed out before they hit the ice and thats where alot of their injuries came from.

I dont like to see people get hurt.

Maybe Moore will think twice before he throws his shoulder at some teams star players HEAD at full speed.

The canucks have a few star players. The avalanche have an all star team like the lakers in the NBA. We cant afford to loose anyone.

I think the sucker punch was a bad move and for that i think bertuzzi should be suspended.

I hope Moore has a speedy and full recovery.

Yes you can add a DNS address with the following line.

netsh interface ip add dns "local area connection" 172.16.0.1
netsh interface ip add dns "local area connection" 172.16.0.2

It will add each additional dns entry behind the other two. To change that you can specify where you want the dns entry to be placed with the index option. So if you typed in:

netsh interface ip add dns "local area connection" 172.16.0.3 index=1

Your dns entries would look like:
172.16.0.3
172.16.0.1
172.16.0.2

Hope that helps.

Isn't it a little hypocritical to criticize a host for complaining about Rails not playing nice with shared hosting only to assert with such hubris that you need to be running on a VPS to use Rails? Let's not get too kneejerk about defending Rails that we overlook actual problems. Not that there's a Rails problem here but actually an Apache + Ruby problem. Before you kids get on yr high-horses and state that Rails demands some flavor-of-the-month leet web server, let me point out that we are one of the few communities that thinks Apache is _always_ the wrong answer. [And yet we wonder why they think we're nuts sometimes!] The Dreamhost post _never_ says Rails sucks, or is broken, or is a bad thing at all. It raised valid points about how difficult Rails is to manage on shared hosting. Our "outrage" and inability to see these points makes us look stupid. I agree with DHH's post that this isn't Rails fault or even responsibility to fix but our reluctance to accept that there _is_ an issue here is asinine. And in the current maelstrom of criticism surrounding our precious niche language, we could stand to not bring further criticism on ourselves.

@ bryanl, by “isn’t quite the right answer for our domain” you mean the domain of making web applications? Which Apache serves up handily for most other languages. In fact, I’ve never heard this “Apache isn’t a valid solution” in any other language but Ruby but I’m willing to chalk that up to my lack of experience in those languages.

Also, “Shame on the ones who think that everything must fit all the time.” I’d think that people who think <span class="caps">VPS</span> is the fit for Rails every time must garner the same amount of shame, right? Right?

If you think a <span class="caps">VPS</span> is a cheap solution for starting out... maybe you are as blind as your arguments would lead one to believe. Rails isn’t rocket science. [Isn’t that one of the biggest hypes for it? That it makes everything simpler?] So suggesting that top-tier hosting solutions are the first steps for hosting doesn’t make sense.

XML certainly has its good points. I feel sorry for the people who simply say 'it's sh*t' without giving something for a reason, but I hold similar caution for those who say it's everything. It's certainly a welcome standardisation to a textual format for defining structure. Yeah it's tree-like, but elements can have IDs to be referenced, to reflect an arbitrary group of entities.

But remember, it's a standard for structuring data. The performance and functionality on top of that is down to the applications that use it. When Nick Weedon said that he "uninstalled Oracle .. after dicovering XML", I'm sure he means to make way for the applications that will reflect the functionality that Oracle supported, but using XML data.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG.org), funded via the Regional Transportation Council, is looking at providing some financial relief to support mandating hybrid vehicles for all taxi fleets in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Just an FYI. Personally, I think this is too expensive to justify public funding as an on-road control measure for air quality. We can get more "bang for the buck" through other strategies, but I thought your readers might be interested.

Interesting. Google finally wakes up to their energy problem - I guess that is a good thing.

It's only taken them over 2.5 years!

To put this in context, a number of luminaries from the world of 'data centers' gathered together in California in early 2003, for an event that had been over a year in planning - the Rocky Mountain Institute High Performance Data Center charrette.

The idea was to come up with practical solutions to the 'energy problem' that is self evident to anyone involved in the Data Center business, especially following the 'Californian Energy Crisis'.

In true RMI style, this was to be collaborative, and open, a meeting of experts, of industry shapers, all coming together to work on how we could evolve an ICT infrastructure that had a radically reduced footprint - to do for Data Centers what the Hyper-Car did for the automotive industry.

Google refused to take part.

Google refused to attend.

According to source close to the company, who at that time tried to get them along, Google denied that they had any problems whatsoever with energy efficiency, and couldn't benefit from attending, and were unwilling to attend to share their self-proclamed expertise with others that were willing to take part - the 'Google Data Centre Guy' came across as arrogant, conceited, selfish and short-sighted.

That someone at Google has finally figured out the source and efficiency of the energy they use is important is great, I hope Mr Hoezle can make greater headway internally with moving 'energy efficiency' forward.

How about they change the catch line from 'don't be evil' to 'don't be arrogant and short-sighted'?

Or go one further.. 'be good' 'be excellent' 'be co-operative' all work for me.

I have an easier, cheaper, "greener" solution: mix ~1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, 1 Liter of water, and a bit of dish soap. The alcohol is the "de-icing" part of the solution: use more for more rapid deicing. Too much alcohol can cause paint loss on your car's hood, so don't overdo it.

Are the dangers of hydrogen over-blown?

I mean -- in the Vancouver area BC Hydro runs pickup trucks which use 51% natural gas and 49% hydrogen for internal combustion. And they use tanks which don't explode from impacts. well, at least not piercing (ie: shotgun blasts) -- sure they rapidly expel the gas, but the tank doesn't turn into a missile or anything. I saw them kick a tank off a 10 foot drop, and then shot it with a shotgun. on the discovery channel (Daily Planet, not Myth Busters).

Sure, these pills are cool. Stable tanks are cool too.

Anyone know of any academic comparisons between the volatility of gasoline vs hydrogen?

BREAKING: Roland Burris won his battle to succeed Barack Obama as the junior senator from Illinois this afternoon as Senate lawyers agreed that he met the chambers rules and could be seated.

"Barring objections from Senate Republicans, we expect Senator-designee Burris to be sworn in and formally seated later this week," said a joint statement from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin.

The Senate Democratic Leaders had told Burris last week that he needed to testify before the Illinois House impeachment committee about his relationship with Gov. Rod Blagojevich and submit a signature from Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White certifying his appointment by Blagojevich.

After making his public appearance in Mount Vernon Nov. 20, Blagojevich attended an economic development briefing at a bank office run by a family that has contributed large sums to his campaign fund. He came away with 14 checks ranging from $500 to $20,000, according to interviews and records reviewed by The Associated Press.

Three-quarters of the take came from Market Street Bancshares Inc. and its managers, brothers J. Hunt and F. William Bonan. Their $30,000 in donations were offered just a month after William Bonanâ€™s son, William II, was appointed by Blagojevich to a non-salaried post on the Southern Illinois University board of trustees.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's lead criminal lawyer says he's being left out of decisions on responding to the impeachment trial that could throw the governor out of office.

Chicago attorney Ed Genson told The Associated Press on Thursday he doesn't know whether Blagojevich will mount any defense in next week's trial.

Genson also says he doesn't have any idea whether the governor might go to court in an effort to block the trial. He says those decisions are being handled by Blagojevich's other Chicago attorneys, Sam Adam and his son, Samuel E. Adam.

Genson says he isn't involved in decisions on impeachment.

He said: "I should be, but I'm not."

Genson said he's still representing the Democratic governor in his federal corruption case.

A message left at the Adams' office Thursday was not immediately returned.

Genson also said that the legal team does not plan to sue to try to stop the impeachment trial from starting Monday or to try to block Blagojevich's removal should the Senate vote to remove the governor from office.

"We had planned to file a lawsuit in the Illinois Supreme Court. We are not doing that," Genson said of the Monday start date in the Senate. "There's going to be no suits filed. I can say that with confidence."

Gov. Rod Blagojevichâ€™s media tour to the East Coast had some cost to Illinois taxpayers.

Blagojevich went to New York today to appear on several national television shows, where he repeated claims that the state Senate is not giving him a chance to respond to impeachment charges being considered by the state Senate this week.

Television network ABC paid for the trip and lodging for the governor and his security detail, Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero.

Taxpayers picked up the cost of salaries of the two Illinois State Police troopers in the detail, as they would no matter where the governor was, plus the flight cost for one trooper who flew out earlier to â€œcheck things out,â€ Guerrero said.

Guerrero did not know how much the trip cost.

Representatives of the shows Blagojevich appeared on, including â€œGood Morning Americaâ€ and â€œThe View,â€ say the governor was not paid an appearance fee.

Blagojevich is expected to appear on CBSâ€™s â€œMorning Showâ€ Tuesday morning, Guerrero said.

Blagojevich made late health funding move

On his last day in office, Rod Blagojevich moved to increase payments to Illinois doctors' caring for sick children, which is the subject of criminal allegations against the former governor.

In a memo obtained by the Tribune, Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services Director Barry Maram, who oversees the state Medicaid insurance program for the poor, increased reimbursement to pediatric specialists who provide services that include "neonatal and pediatric critical care services," according to the memo dated Jan. 29.

On that day, the Illinois Senate removed Blagojevich from office.

Maram would not comment on the timing of the Blagojevich administration's move, but said the department has been examining increasing specialty physician rates for children and adults for several years.

The governor's office has wide discretion when it comes to funding certain Medicaid programs. In this case, Blagojevich did not need legislative approval to direct Maram and his department to increase such payments.

Among the more lurid allegations in a Dec. 9 criminal complaint against Blagojevich was that he wanted a $50,000 contribution from the head of Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago for backing $8 million in funding for pediatric doctors throughout the state. The memo from Maram's office addresses such funding but does not say exactly how much will flow to these doctors.

A lawmaker involved in helping the doctors secure the funds said the money would help but is "nowhere near" what's needed to help the physicians or their patients. A spokesman for Gov. Patrick Quinn said Blagojevich's move would be reviewed along with all other last-minute decisions by the former governor.

"I don't think it had anything to do with doing the right thing by the kids but more with covering his 'bleep' in regarding the criminal trial," said Rep. Susan Mendoza (D-Chicago). "Now he can say in court, I released those funds. That's what this is about and nothing else."

Without the funding, pediatric specialists and hospitals say sick children can be put on waiting lists for care, putting their health at risk.

Children's and a group of pediatric specialists had formed a coalition called "We Care for Illinois Kids" to highlight the need to pay specialists on behalf of sick children because there are many doctors in Illinois who do not accept payments from Medicaid, citing its low reimbursements.

"This is a really important step toward providing more adequate Medicaid reimbursement to our pediatric specialists who care for our state's sickest kids but more work needs to be done," said Julie Pesch, a spokeswoman for Children's Memorial. "We will continue to work with lawmakers and Gov. Quinn to ensure that these children have access to care, regardless of whether they have public or private insurance."

Children's had no comment on the timing of the governor's move. On Dec. 9, the day the allegations emerged and Blagojevich was arrested, Children's said it was "disappointed" the funding had been "tied to an alleged pay-for-play scheme."

I would like to let you know that I attended the House session this afternoon. I was never so angry and ashamed of any group of people in my life. They all sauntered in at least 10 minutes latemulled around and visited with each other, were very rude and never even listened to the representative who was speakingvoted on some procedures while continuing to chat. The gallery was quiet as a mouse, but we still couldnt hear because of their chattering with each other. Then the session was adjourned until tomorrow afternoon and they were told there would be caucases after the adjournment. And to add insult to injury one of the representatives announced that it was so-and-so birthday and there was cake in such and such room for the members. This my friends is what they expect us to accept as governing. Remember in November, I certainly will and so will all the people who sat there through that unbelievable display of disrespect and contempt for all Illinoisans.
