in New Swiss law protects rights of ’social’ animals on Kitty Mowmow's Animal Expo
Interesting article....
I think it is very important to assure quality of life for most animals but especially dogs:
Dog owners can revel in the fact that research studies report a link between dog ownership and reduced stress and improved health for their human companions. There's nothing like the loyalty and unconditional love of a dog to balance the fast-paced, high tech nature of life today. Whatever you have to deal with, when you come home and your dog rushes to greet you with his tail wagging, the troubles of the day melt away.
Good Dog Panda!!

Just a reminder about Dog Park Etiquette!
1. Only bring dogs to the park that are healthy, spayed or neutered, licensed with tags and microchips. Make sure your dog is current on all vaccinations and flea control. Don't bring puppies that are under 16 weeks old.
2. Don't forget to bring plenty of water, keep your dog hydrated and happy!
3. Clean up after your dog. Don't let your dog dig or destroy the landscape.
Most important, keep a watchful eye on your dog. Look out for aggressive play and keep your dog safe and happy with his dog park excursion.

Going Green Home Remedy for Pets not found in your pet supplies store.
For natural flea control – groom your pet daily. Use a fine toothed flea comb. Bathe your pet a natural pet shampoo that has flea repellent herbs. During summer wash your pet’s bedding in hot soapy water weekly and dry in hot dryer.
Flea killer: Dawn dishwashing liquid, add a few drops to your dog’s bath and shampoo. Rinse well and kiss the fleas good bye!
Dog odor: When your dog comes in from the rain or outdoors, wipe him down with a dryer sheet, that will make him smell good!
Dog odor on the carpet: Sprinkle baking soda and wait 15 minutes then vacuum it up, it is safe for the pets and will smell nice again.
Stickers - Use a stainless steel comb with wide teeth to pull out stickers from the fur before matting begins. Or else you can use your fingers to pull them out. If you find the sticker deep inside the ear making it difficult to remove, put some warm vegetable or mineral oil in the ear to soften it and take your pet to the vet.

in Haverhill clamps down on owners of vicious dogs on The Eagle-Tribune
I think proper training is absolutely necessary to help ensure a healthy environment especially for dogs disposed to problems such as Pits.
I agree that training should include positive rewards. Owners should always have treats with them while walking their dogs to reward positive behavior at the time of the act.
One way to make dog owners more responsible and to aid in training is to make taking care of their dogs as convenient as possible. For example, if an owner has poop bags readily available they will most likely be more prone to picking up after their dog(s) and if they have treats readily available they are better able to train their dogs more efficiently.
What they need is a product that makes it more convenient to pick it up. Such a product can be found at http://www.rgpetcomm.com.
Once you use the SmartWalk Manager you’ll wonder how you did without it.
Good luck to responsible dog owners
