in Nashua Telegraph Blogs on The Mother of all Blogs"I’ll be the one sobbing in the PT Cruiser out in the parking lot"
Glad you're good with it already. I was totally unprepared. I couldn't wait for last September, for my daughter to start nursery school. She had stopped taking naps that summer, and I was gonna get some time back to get stuff done.
Dropped her off, she ran to the fish tank, and LITERALLY over her shoulder said "bye Mommy!" I didn't even make it out the door. Started bawling as I was crossing through the daycare room, and was immediately tended to by some very sweet staff, who said they comfort alot more mom on the first days than kids.
On the drive home, I started laughing at myself, and called my friend Fran, getting her voicemail, and left this really snotty/crying/laughing message. She saved it and played it for all her friends. Call me your first day. I believe in sharing humiliation. ;^)))

in NashuaTelegraph.com: Blogs on The Mother of all BlogsWhen we passed 2 and rounded 3, and my daughter had yet to throw a tantrum, everyone warned me, "oh...it's really the terrible 3's, not 2's!" Some said 4's. We've now passed 4 and a half...and I'm waiting on that first tantrum.....
Why do we parents all like to terrify each other so much? Remember...if ya had a dime for every labor horror story....
Your daughter's unique and beautiful, and will never fit anyone's mold. SO THERE!!

in The Mother of all Blogs on The Mother of all BlogsDitto on the "well done/written". Have so been there.
But I recently visited my friend Sarah, who's moved to PA. Her daughter and mine are the same age, and we started play dates when they were like, a year old. She's now had a second, who's gorgeous, but in talking about our "#1's" she said, "I'm SO loving 4rs old". And I couldn't agree more. I've probably said that about every year, but really, this transition from toddler to little person who figures it all out, and has OPINIONS, is so completely entertaining!
Just wait!....the even better is yet to come!

in The Mother of all Blogs on The Mother of all BlogsI have to say, my girl's "testing limits" phase has been pretty mild. Still going, but still mild. I've got the world's most laid-back toddler. But she did/does test...and I found being more definitive myself helped. Not ending ANY sentence with "okay?" like it's a question. It's really easy to do naturally. "It's bedtime, okay?" No questions. "Eiligh..., it's bedtime....NOW!" When the NOW is more firm, and maybe louder, that the NO....I think it helps.

in Nashua Telegraph Blogs on The Mother of all BlogsWell, I never got crammed into a locker....cause I was too fat to fit! See how lucky you were!? Ack, indeed. So you help my daughter with the nerd stuff, and I'll help yours with the body-image stuff. And we'll both jimmy the Mean Girls' lockers and glue their bras together. Deal?

in The Mother of all Blogs on The Mother of all BlogsSo I guess you're a "no" for going with me to "Go Diego Go" live in April? Dang...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Sesame...it helped to get my very quiet 2 yr-old talking, but I think the perfect adult antidote, or "breath of fresh air", to anyone with regular Sesame Street in their lives HAS to be Avenue Q.

in http://www.drbethsnow.com/2008/01/07/581/ on Not To Be Trusted With KnivesI found those chips at Stong's, a grocery store on the Westside. I'm never buying them again because my taste buds are finally re-growing after being burnt off, but I'll check and see if they still have them the next time I'm in Stong's and I'll let ya know.

in WTF on Not To Be Trusted With Knives"Those advocating women's participation contend that there are over 100 women from 16 countries competing in the sport's global circuit. They've even held a world championship. But the IOC says the sport needs to have two world competitions. This requirement, however, has been waived for sports -- such as bobsledding -- in the past."

in WTF on Not To Be Trusted With KnivesRebecca - There totally should be men's synchronized swimming. I didn't realize there wasn't, but then I hadn't really thought about it. And seriously, why doesn't Dick go by Richard Pound professionally? Because you are right - we just aren't that mature (at least, I'm not!)
