I should add that Izotope Trash really, really helped get the distortion sounds I wanted. So that helped along with the stock plug-ins.

I think this is why my current album sounds pretty good. I had really no idea what I was doing, but I took the right advice, and just fiddled with things until they sound like how I wanted. Anything but efficient, but at least it was effective.

Also, the guy mastering it was pretty good, I guess.... :)

This was extremely helpful.

I can't bounce to MP3 to put it on my IPOD to listen to it in different places.

So I've been bouncing to AIFF then converting it to an MP3 in Itunes.

I'm assuming then that I should be doing something differently?

Quick question: I use the template you set up for me (thanks!) to start all my new sessions. The only problem I might be creating is that Pro Tools saves all of the plug-in and audio files in the "Template" folder rather than in a new folder for each song. I think there's an easy way around this, but I'm wondering if it matters one way or the other....thanks.

My goal -> Make a solo album, hope enough people like the production-side of it to want to use me as a producer on other projects.

Not quite the same as promoting a home studio, but you could use the same strategy. Good article!
