Great article. Made me think a lot. The sad thing is that people would skip a meal a day if they had to in order to attend a church that was more like what they wanted. In the coming years we'll see if this prediction comes true. I think the message to us all is that we need to engage in our local churches instead of going to the next church down the road every time there is something we don't like.

in American Idol and Shout To The Lord, Take 2 on Think Christian
It was a good move, and it shows that they really are trying to target mainstream Christians. I'm still not comfortable with worship music being "performed" like this (this is why I have qualms with some of the CCM industry), but I don't doubt God can use it to His glory.

in Manuscript Reveals Revisions in Sermon on the Mount on the Jesus Manifesto
I was reading that in Google reader and didn't see the satire tag. I thought it was legit until the last part. Thank God that was satire.
Man I love the Sermon on the Mount. Our picture of Jesus could be very different without this defining passage. Luckily, we have 3 other gospels ;)

I hope Zondervan and Paul can reach a settlement out of court. Sure this is a concept taught in scripture but Zondervan might find it all too convenient that many of the verses in question were written by Paul.

wow... I never knew that about Dove. It's kinda sinister what their doing as a corporation. Just when you find a company that seems to be telling the "truth," you find out that in the end - it's all about the money.

I would love to contribute some ideas :)

I've gone from really disliking the whole thing to being pretty ambivalent about American Idol and somewhat disturbed at the reaction of the Christian community. At least I can excuse the show's co-opting a Christian worship song as intelligent marketing; they are in the business to make money and have no obligation to any religious beliefs otherwise. I don't know why Christians would be outraged that they took out "Jesus" in the first place (what do you expect?) or overjoyed that they played the song (trust me, it's "just a song" to them, no worship or God-glorifying going on) or relieved that they corrected the lyric (to pander to a marketing group).
