That's very strange Randy. We don’t touch the .htaccess file. We might generate a little bit of load during the import, but it's not anything significant or severe.


While I don't really know what happened exactly, it's extremely unlikely that ID was responsible for the issues with the .htaccess file as we never use it or touch it.

Randy, what do you mean exactly by your blog being down? We have had no down time. Was there an extended load time? Please let me know. Again, the plugin is in the beta stages, so we'd love to know about any bugs that you encounter so that we can improve it.

You've got a good point Andrew. That's one of the goals of IntenseDebate - to give you the platform to voice your opinion and engage in a conversation that's organized and manageable. We're always looking to improve IntenseDebate and we love feedback, so let me know if there's a way for us to improve.

Where your comments are stored is definitely a common concern Wayne. One of the main features of our new WordPress plugin (to be released shortly) addresses that issue. Without divulging too much detail, let me just say that the new IntenseDebate plugin will feature full data synchronization where you will always have your comments no matter what. Sorry I can't say more, I don't want to spill the beans just yet, but I think you'll be impressed.

Hi Douglas. Thanks for posting about IntenseDebate. I'd like to address a couple of your concerns. IntenseDebate does offer an exporter for Wordpress that puts your comments directly back into Wordpress' proprietary comment system.

In regards to placing comments made in IntenseDebate directly into your Wordpress comments as a backup, indexing comments, and our API (per Noah's comment above), we've got some huge features coming down the line very shortly! I can't spill the beans publicly yet (although I guess I just did), but let's just say that your entire wish list will be covered along with a ton of other awesome features.

We're looking for beta testers for our upcoming Wordpress plugin version 2.0. If you're interested in finding out more about the awesome features included in this and getting on the beta list please email me at support@intensedebate.com. I'd love to have you using IntenseDebate.

Thanks for the blog love Micah, we really appreciate it. You gave us excellent feedback on how to improve our Twitter integration and we were happy to implement it. I've got to say, now it's an awesome feature!

IntenseDebate is for bloggers and commenters. We'd have to be crazy not to listen to their feedback. It's a lot easier than guessing what they want, so keep the feedback coming!
