Thank you so much. I learned how to remove nofollow from my blogspot blog from here. I'm no techie so that's quite an accomplishment for me. My blog is just about a month old but this has really helped it take off quite well. I'm learning a lot, too, by surfing dofollow blogs and commenting. It's a really great movement.

I've been learning a lot here. I got instructions from removing nofollow from my blogger template. Then I joined both the Favorites Exchange and the DoFollow List. They have given my month-old blog lots of links and favorite-votes.

I didn't know I was doing the dofollow commenting wrong, though, until I read this post. I immediately revised the dofollow tips/a> I've been sharing in my blog, and shall promptly revise my way of doing things, too. I hope I understood it right this time.

I do read John Chow's site and I do learn a lot from his tips. In fact, I did a review of his site and was included in one batch list. I'm hoping it will help my page rank and draw in some readers.

Despite all these, though, I don't agree with some of his money-making ideas. I think charging people to remove the nofollow from their blogs and for posting dofollow on his blog is taking advantage of the gullible. And asking for beer money after saying he's earning so much from his blog is so tacky!

Still, it's our choice, isn't it? We can just stop reading his blog. Or we can continue to read it and pick up info but not get suckered into giving him money.

At least he admits he's "evil" and that he has no noble goals except make more and more money. So, reader beware.

We can still learn from his blog and not do the same mistakes on our blogs.

I found this blog through a dofollow list, and I have one myself at http://manila-mom.blogspot.com/2007/04/reward-y... . It has helped my blog a lot, being just a little over a month old. It has also helped me learn much by reading other dofollow blogs. I must admit that some of the info is still way beyond me, though. There's a lot more learning to do...

This is exactly what I needed to know.

I set up 7 blogs about a month ago, intending to earn from Adsense. I see now that I should keep one as my main social networking blog, and another 2 as promotions tools for my romance writing career. The others shall promptly be put under probation and observation for possible elimination. In the meantime, I will investigate niches I can develop as you have outlined.

Thank you for the concise on-target advice. I'll be back here often to learn more.

I have been blogging for only about a month now. My Manila Mom blog got a PR2 after joining the Favorites Exchange just two weeks before and the DoFollow movement just little more than a week before. I also did a lot of reading and commenting on dofollow blogs, upping my links.

What I am really surprised about is that my other blog as a Filipina romance novelist - Maia Jose's Cafe Romanza - got a PR3 without any of the abovementioned efforts from me. It is even a few days younger than the Manila Mom blog. True it offers a fave exchange and is dofollow but I wasn't able to really work on it as I was busy with Manila Mom. By the way it offers a free serialized Filipino romance novel but I didn't think it had that much visitors already.

Google page rank still puzzles me.

Wow! First of all, thank you so much for the special mention and the link. I have already been learning much valuable lessons here that this is such a bonus!

Then, of course, thanks for the idea. I think I'll explore it since my blogs are still not earning much at Adsense. It will have to be weighed carefully, though, since I'd have to screen the participating blogs. I wouldn't want to be identified with blogs that might not jive well with my being a freelance writer-editor, especially with me appearing as co-author.

Don't the community members already benefit from being shown there? Why would they pay if they could just join the community instead?

Oh, and I just saw that it is my frontpage, also named ManilaMom, that is PR5. That lists the blogs I author. The specific page for the ManilaMom blog itself, which shows its community members, is still PR3. The frontpage has no community members so their blogs will need to be co-authored by me to appear there.

By the way, is a PR decline possible? What should I do to maintain the PR5 or even improve it in the future? I'm also wondering at how it even got a PR 5. Has it anything to do with the list of contacts and the communities I joined? Or traffic?

Networking IS a very powerful and necessary task. It's how I'm learning everything as I go along. It helps me assess and refine - or even redirect - my plans in order to reach my goals in a faster and more efficient way.

I think I still belong to the "click happy masses." :) I am even tempted to click on my own ads NOT to make money but because I am curious about their content. I'm a sucker about ads on how to make money online. Also ads offering free stuff I'm interested in like stories and book reviews. It doesn't matter where they are on the page as long as I see them. It's more of the way the ads are written that determines whether I find them credible or not to merit exploration.

Knowing all these myself, I put up blogs to carry ads that I think would be attractive to people like me. One of my problems is that I often don't like the kind of ads being displayed on my site.

This is very good advice. I didn't realize that having both adsense and amazon would be a conflict. I think I will remove amazon and try adsense first, since to earn at Amazon will need actual sales while adsense only needs clicks. Additional advice will be very, very welcome always. The month's earnings of all our family blogs together couldn't even pay for Dairy Queen blizzards for my 3 kids as of now.

Off topic, I have not been posting the past two days as my mom is in a bad way. I am mentioning this because I read about you and your family caring for your dad. We did that, too, and he passed away last year. We are now caring for my bedridden mom. Working at home is really a blessing in that it allows us to care for our family.

Aw, so true! She's so cute. Enjoy each stage of each kid because we'll never get them back at that age. Next we'll be enjoying grandkids :D We need to remember details of each of our kids' growing years so we have enough stories to tell their own children about them. I remember how my kids used to love asking my Mom and Dad about how I was as a child.
