Seriously. I don't know how they think this is a good thing.

At least SouthWest isn't charging for the first bag. Yet.

I liked The Host, too. Haven't touched Twilight.

in 30th August Weeklyish Roundup on Kim Werker Blog
I'm behind on picture-a-day challenge that I set myself, too. I don't worry about it that much anymore because really, how many pictures of random crap do people want to look at?

I just got back from doing a shocking amount of laundry. Well, less shocking and more "really a pain in the butt to drag to the laundromat and back considering it's August in MD."

I read Meyer's first adult book, "The Host," this summer and really, really enjoyed it. Couldn't put it down, etc.

I've done it to a handful of photos, and would probably do it to more but for the fact that it takes too much time. I haven't bothered to set up internet at my apartment yet, and there aren't really any hotspots in my neighborhood, so I am uploading photos at work on my lunch break.

But I bet you could use them as inspiration for jumping-off points for something more appropriate -- sleeveless tanks or something. And really, you MUST need cardis.

I have been using the GMaps-Pedometer mashup for a while. Glad to see they are finally integrating walking into regular GMaps, though!

Aren't pantaloons a form of undergarment?

Just sayin'. ;)

Ellen Well, yes, good point. I was referring more to bras and underpants of the modern variety. :)

in Combating the Vacuum, Part II on Kim Werker Blog
I've always tried to keep all my inboxes (work and personal) whittled down to just what needs to be handled. I do find though, that even with this I sometimes have to take a moment and get rid of things that have been sitting there for way too long and are clearly not going to be handled (at least anytime soon). ;)

Really? I didn't know that. Where is it?

Ellen It's on my hip area. It wasn't the most stable place for it so it's a bit fuzzy now, but I am still very fond of it.

Hey, you fixed your bookmarks! Maybe that means mine would work now. I'll have to look into this tonight.

in Loving the 2.0 World on What I Learned Today...
Comcast seems to be floating around out on the web keeping an eye out for disgruntled customers. I know they're on Twitter, and I've heard or one or two other instances of people complaining via a blog and finally getting a response.

On the one hand, it's great that there is a way to get the customer support, but on the other hand, shouldn't they just fix what's broken in their regular processes?

My colleague just did a presentation on a wiki we set up here for our subject guides -- she put the presentation info on the wiki and provided the URL at the start & end of the session. And yet, one of the top complaints on the feedback forms was "no handouts." I don't get it. Half the time I get rid of mine before I even leave a conference!

Flickr introduced integration with Picnik a while back, and I actually used it for the first time just this weekend. Works very smoothly, and it sounds like the way it integrates with Flickr is pretty similar.

in » The Great Manicure Test on Kim Werker Blog
My problem is that I never want to sit still long enough to let them set. Usually if I get a manicure, I wind up wrecking one nail while it's drying. But beyond that they usually last quite a while for me.

Yeah, I agree with you - I hate seeing TVs everywhere. Lucky me, we are supposed to be installing two giant flatscreens in the atrium of the library, one of which will be tuned permanently to CNN if the director has his way. I can only hope it will be muted.

Thanks! I can't wait to actually see this in print -- when I was looking at the site the other day it was loading so slowly that I gave up on reading about everyone else until the print copy arrives at my library.

I love it! And the photos are great!

I wound up with a weird big neckline on my first knitted cardigan as well. However the rest of the cardigan does not fit nearly as nicely as yours does. :)

I heart Gcal. The public calendars are great - when I was at Simmons I set one up for our student chapter of ASIS&T, and we're using them at the library I'm at now for scheduling our classrooms and other patron spaces.

in Facebook Apps on What I Learned Today...
I have pared down my apps a little bit and stopped adding most of what people invite me for - the page just gets so busy after a while, and I have to wonder if anyone is even looking at most of them. After all, I rarely look at my friends' random apps, unless it is one we are both interacting through (scrabulous, superpoke, etc).

I'm also wish the newsfeed would hurry up and start reflecting my thumbs up and down! :)
