I don't think anyone has half a million dollars piled up somewhere to hire lawyers to defend yourself against people that are digging to destroy you. I wish her the best whatever she plans to do with her life.

It is so pitiful to see people that are hooked on the hard drugs, they are at the mercy of someone who cares enough to get them help. Rehabs work if enough time is dedicated to getting help.

OPEN YOUR EYES yes they work sure do but some arent lucky enough to go to rehab.....like ones who piss off judges, da, task force, etc...or if they are caught cooking meth they get to go to rehab while waiting to be sent to prison...yeah judge lets them go to his friends rehab they get jobs, they are doing good a year later when sentencing comes up no trouble, working paying bills, doing great, but judge still sends to prison, why? let them go to rehab for a year get the sickness of addiction in remission, they are working for first time in years, and then send to prison..two guys just went through this last month...Whats the point judge?

Nothing is foolproof, but Alabama Teen Challenge has and is working for many people that are seeking help. One has to be sincere about wanting help for it to work. One can get drugs or anything else they want no matter where they are.....

We need a drug court in Talladega County........maybe then more people will be sent to rehab, and not jail or prison.....the jails are full, and now the inmates are are being transported to other jails so they will have a place to sleep.....taxpayers get ready.....

Let the people vote on legalizing marijuana, and let the people vote on drug courts, and let the prison system reduce their overcrowding....this will give the taxpayers a break...Not much job security mentioned here, but we need changes in Alabama, not the same old, same old that is getting us further in the red everyday.....if someone is in rehab, paying their own way, doing wonderful, leave them there, don't put them in jail, and prison, what will this accomplish......nothing but the taxpayers will have to pay instead of the person in rehab......it seems like a no brainer to me, but who am I to judge......

The prison system in Alabama is suffering. When jails have to lease beds from other counties, and states to house all the offenders ( most are drugs) something is wrong. Most need rehab not prison, and some were getting rehab, and were taken out, and put in jail thus filling up beds, and floors that need to be saved for actual criminals, like murders, and rapist, and child molesters. A good look needs to be given to this problem. I realize job security is very important but at the same time taxpayers money could do more good in a rehab program.

As long as this planet has life there will be drugs. Each city must decide whether to help addicts or throw them away into a pile of paperwork, and not much help. Rehabs that offer an addict enough time for recovery work. Twelve months of treatment is considered a good time for recovery. Alabama Teen Challenge is a prime example of a treatment program that ask for a twelve month commitment... I have seen miracles happen from this program. Not every case is successful, but many are, and they should have a chance to prove themself, one way or the other, give them that chance....If your child or grandchild was an addict, what would you do?

School Teacher It amuses me to read all the opposing posts. Some are due to fear derived from religion. Read Revelations 22:1-2... Ever heard of the tree of life? Do you know any other tree/plant that provides enlightenment (WHEN USED CORRECTLY). Yes pot can be bad.. alcohol can be bad, hell food can be bad. Alcohol doesn't make people alcoholics and pot doesn't make people pot heads..and guns don't kill people, people kill people. It all just depends on the person. Maybe if we educate people they will learn that if they use marijuana properly it can be a positive thing. I am a 25 year old K-12 Education Major expecting to graduate next year. For all of you opposers, your opinions and outlooks deserves mine as well as everybody elses respect, however do your homework first; and use an open mind. For those of you who think marijuana makes people ignorant or "burnt out". I'll have you know that I was always an average student. Last year I smoked all school year and finished with a 3.8 GPA making the Dean's list while taking 18 credit hours. During the semester my wife and I had our first baby. My use of marijuana had 0 negative effects on me. Instead it helped me cope with ALL the stress upon my shoulders which aided me in being focuesed on my studies, remaining driven to be a good husband to my more than deserving wife, and learning to be the best father I can be to my new son Gabriel.

I will say that when I was younger, around 17, pot had a very negative effect on me. I was going through a tough time and relied on the drug heavily. My father recommended I rely on god not weed. I began to do so and I realized that god gave us the plant. I wasn't doing anything wrong. Still, at a young age I did not know how to use the drug wisely.. It effected my grades... However, as I grew older and more wise I understood the concept of moderation and pulled off a 3.8. This is just a litle more proof that legalization is needed. I would not have had access to marijuana at a young age if it were controlled. Who knows, maybe I would still be playing college football.

One last thing all opposers should be aware of. "GOD GAVE MEN EVERY SEED DWELLING PLANT". Not all but ONE, but ALL...for those of you who want to argue with that, he also gave us FREEWILL.

When money is the most important thing, even over a persons getting help, I don't know what to think.....imagine the people that are in rehabs, getting the help they desperatly need, and then someone who has the power to help, doesn't....all I can say is, one day a higher power will ask why......
