I'm also a fan of CC on Facebook (as Mike Cleverdude).

Re: Quicken Home and Business 2009 Review and Giveaway

I was actually looking to upgrade to this version so I'll hold off till the winner is announced :)

Re: Question for Discussion: How Much Can You Spend Without Telling?

When we got married, the amount was set at $50. Four years later, it's the same amount, but we're less strict about enforcing it. However, we still do run bigger purchases by each other to let the other know that $50 isn't in the account anymore.

For example, I had to spend $52 on a book last night for a potential new job. I didn't ask for permission, but then again I scouted for the best deal and saved $16 off the original price, plus another $16 on overnight shipping (I joined Amazon Prime for the free month).

Re: Giveaway: Free Sumo Lounge Omni Chair

The bane of my existence are our 2 filing cabinets. They represent clutter to me since my wife's papers from the last 10+ years of school and work are crammed inside. Next up is a free desk we got, but never use, except for yet more papers.

Re: I Won’t Sell Email Addresses

Yeah, they contacted me yesterday. The student loans were next on my list before buying my wife a Mini. But we'll have that paid off before January and then get back to the student loan payoff.

Re: Intuit Quicken 2008 is Here! Of course, I would have had to buy a different vehicle to do so since I had a sedan.

Re: FREE: The Maui Millionaires by David Finkel and Diane Kennedy

If I paid $30,000 to meet Jesus, then that means I'm probably dead and money doesn't mean anything anyway.

I like the answer that I would meet myself 10 years ago.

Otherwise, I wouldn't mind meeting either of my grandfathers.

Re: NetFlix: It Might Be Time to Dump It

I'm surprised I'm the first to post this for you, but how about trying Blockbuster Total Access? It's the regular 3-at-a-time deal as before, but they added a free feature called Total Access:

http://www.blockbuster.com/totalaccess

Any time you watch a movie, instead of mailing it back, you take it into Blockbuster and exchange it for a free in-store rental. Plus they scan your old movie and take it out of your queue and send the next one asap.

And you still get an in-store free rental coupon once a week.

With a Blockbuster across the street from us, Netflix will never come close to this deal, even if they're offering movie downloads (which they are now).

Re: Question from Reader: What’s a Decent Rate of Return?

Also consider whether you're borrowing money for the investment (what's that rate), investment fees (could rack up alot here), and inflation rate.

Re: 15 reasons why you might not want to be a consultant

So true, so true. I have one guy at my current client who actually said he wants an all new contract staff. He's a jerk and we don't take him seriously, but that one hurt! They honestly don't want to deal with the documentation that we require and they're used to just walking up to a developer and telling them what to do. Sorry, can't do that and cover your butt on the contract at the same time!

Re: a zero-sum worldview

The homeless that live at garbage dumps so they can scrounge for food suffer with your Delorean concept.
