7) Look Whoâ€™s Talking [not the movie; 8:30pm Thu, 9]- PVR (so Yes, just to check it out), its against Jericho which is hit or miss, but I enjoy it. I'll check it out as I need a 8:30pm Thursday replacement for when Jericho finishes.

Forgot to make this comment. The channel 9 earphone commentary thing has been advertised by "The Advertiser" here in Adelaide, as they had a competition where you could win one. Also I saw one time in the coverage where they showed a kid who had one and they raved on about it being an FM radio that could also pick up the commentary coverage.

BTW: These have been around for a while with Rugby Union where you can pick up the Refs mic and their conversations. I think they are called Event Radios.

And yes they are a waste of money!

With respect guys, but just activating the exchange does not allow for ADSL. Telstra has a huge number of ways of blocking ADSL on their systems. If you are too far from the exchange you cant get ADSL. If Telstra has equipment on the line (RIM or Pair Gain) you cant get ADSL.

This is why I'm stuck on dial up (my fight is listed at http://www.da011.uni.cc/ ).

I do agree that IPTV would be a good delivery method, but we would need better speeds and bigger download limits to do this, and until Telstra change the backhaul systems, and even speeds at wholesale levels (or competitors offer wholesale) it wont be any good. Of course who should be blame------- The GOVERNMENT!

Just one comment on the show, with respect to the footy, we have already been getting a lottery on the coverage. Not sure what you get in Melbourne, but in Adelaide we still get the Adelaide games shown. Sometimes its broadcast by Foxtel, and then rebroadcast on Ten. Sometimes Ten actually do the broadcasting, so its hit and miss. Foxtel's footy coverage was terrible anyway, so I can't see how Ten and Seven having the rights oculd make it worse.

Is this the audience's revenge against Nine? For years Nine has had good series that it has "pissed" (sorry cant think of a better term) all over, such as West Wing and The Sopranos (hey Nine even had Seinfeld at one stage!). They have been beat by Seven to the good series so they have been stuck with the lower end, and are getting series that are being cancelled.

As for Rome, its an ongoing series from what I saw, but Nine decided to kill it within weeks of showing the series due to programming mistakes. Nine are very good at promoting things and the using their programming to kill them, they have done this with multiple series.

At least no matter what Nine does they wont be able to kill these series because they are already dead.

Dunno if its the case in Melbourne but the NZ vs England game in Adelaide this week had the first 15 overs missing because they had "A Currant Affiar" on. I ended up watching the Simpsons instead! Maybe Eddie knew you guys were recording.

Is there a link for the ABC rejection of Torchwood, I'm kind of dissapointed if it does go to the commerical channels (10 would put into summer fill at midnight, ala Battlestar, and 7 would continously delay it).

BTW guys, is the podcast going back to the Friday schedule?

Still listening, but based on the footy comments, I think Foxtel's slogan sums it up. "If you dont have it, you wont get it". I agree that Channel 7 has screwed up, and the AFL also has screwed up IMHO. Why the AFL? Well if kids cant see their heroes play the game, then they wont play the game, and kids will move away from footy.

John Howard if you want to promote fitness, get the footy on FTA!

BTW Fourthof5, the whole commentary team is awful on channel 9. I put on the ABC instead. The channel 9 commentary team is a world wide laughing stock, people in England were so happy to get rid of Mark "Hows my hair" Nicholas, while we were happy to take him. Thats how bad it is.

Speed for Metro areas. Okay, I get a whopping 28.8k where I live. No ADSL, NO ADSL2+. Until recently (late last year) I couldn't even get Telstra cable (BTW: Bigpond's customer service is awful), so maybe thats the speed.

For me, broadband access has been a voting issue. I agree 100% with Ruddies plan, and I have just seen the Liberals waste money with their Broadband connect programs. They need a plan, because it wont fix its self. If the liberals had done the spending the right way around they wouldn't have wasted so much that they are running from having a plan. Then again this comes from the same party that people who want broadband only want it for gaming and porn (not thats there anything wrong with that :D)

Oh also remember that Metro Broadband Connect had $50mil promised to it at the last election, and how much has been spent? Around 250,000. Its not just the bush that is being left behind but huge sections of the Metropolitan areas (and doesn't matter when it was built, or its economic location).

I actually have a few Singapore guys here in the lab at the moment and they are amazed with our download limits and speeds, they think Australian broadband is just some big joke.

I finally got around to watching it. Firstly I think its a mistake by the programmers for South Park. Its happened with Top Gear too. They went to show one listing (as per the website and my PVR) but when it was shown something else come up. It will be interesting to see what happens next week (I have no idea of the series numbers).

Personally I think the latest series was probably delayed because of the stink that went down in parliament about the last series, maybe they had to get the "Family last" party to check them off first.

I've been browsing the Channel 10 site recently. No real links to shows, unless they are a big big name show. The forums are a bit of a joke, they have a big forum for Jericho (even saying they would ask the stars questions) but no one there to let people know when the series is coming back. Channel 10 needs a way to communicate with its viewers in a way so that any questions about series could be answered (I'm wondering if we will see Battlestar Galactica S3).

I also had a laugh at Channel 7's Hero's website, its pretty well useless compared to the blog/comics on the US version. Its a shame they can mirror that website where it was at the same time as the episode they were showing (ala if they are showing Ep 6 then its the same as the US site when it was at Ep 6).

Ahh the pork was classic! I'll definately be passing this over to the GF. I stand up and scream at the TV when Coonan comes on and spouts her "Pie in the Sky" stuff about broadband. The GF always knows who is on the TV (oh I sometimes scream at Howard). If I had a broadband connection I would upload it on Youtube. Also loved the comment about Aussie fans of Battlestar Galactica. BTW guys there is also a DVD movie coming too.

Did I hear you say that Torchwood is going to Channel 10? While I'm happy its coming, I seriously doubt 10 will stay with it for more than 3 eps. Guess its another DVD for me!

Just to clear it up for Josh. Twin Peaks season 2 is avaliable in Australia in two parts (god knows why!) for around $36 each (I think thats what I paid). In the US Twin Peaks Season 2 is a single pack (the way it should be) for the full $60 or so.

Sorry I forgot to post this, just remembered, cant seem to edit, maybe I'm just too stupid to work this thing!

On "I dont buy it" I have problems with the ads too, I jumped up and shouted "**** Howard stop electionering". They dont inform me about what they are doing, and if you notice at the end of the advert they say something like "well be informing you of the changes in the future", which means we will be hit for more.

I also changed my private health insurance last night and I had to sit though a whole bit before being connected (ala an automated message) stating that you should not ask the company about the governments changes to private health insurance but actually check the website at ...... If the government was serious about "informing" the public they would also inform the private health insurance companies!

With Government funding of broadband. I remember being promised last election that there would be $50mil of funding for the metro area blackspots. However only $250,000 of this was spent before it closed down, and guess what, that was only for investigative purposes.

With respect to the Bigpond Movies, if you are with Bigpond they are unmetered, however, I'm sure Bigpond will work out a way to stuff the meter up and charge you! Then they will offer you 10 free Bigpond movies!!!!!!!

Also Heroes in Adelaide was on Wed Night, it annoyed me because I had all the shows I wanted to watch on Wed night. I was extremely happy to hear they are showing it close to the US time, and I think it will be extremely interesting to see if there is a spike in the ratings. I hope so, because if it does maybe other shows will follow suit.

Firstly "Language warning"

Ahh Channel 10, they always wonder why people download the series before they screen on channel 10. Then when they put on a good series (Torchwood, Battlestar Galactica, Veronica Mars, etc) they always cancel it halfway through the season, and replace it with what?? REPEATS.

Channel 10 F*** you, I've given up waiting for Idol, Bigbrother and I cant dance to finish when I wish to watch a show. I'm going to get people to download them for me and watch them this way instead (I'll probably get BSG on DVD before it screens). I got Torchwood before it screened here, but gave Channel 10 a chance and actually watched it but guess what I'm not going to stay up till midnight to watch it.

Hmm that was tamer than I though. I'm now going for a rant (and I guess a ban) on Ten forums. I've noticed they remove the forums for axed or moved shows rather quickly these days, so have to do it in the general forum.

BTW: GAT. West Wing vote, plus you can do a rant about how Channel 9 stuffed it up and how the ABC saved it. I'd also jump in with Top Gear "reimanged" which took a dull car show and made it interesting to the rest of the world. Dunno if its up there for an overall thing, but for changing the way car shows are done, its groundbreaking.

Josh, you are kicking out a whole series based on one episode, but you are leaving Lost in there? Oh come on you guys whinged over and over about how awful the start of season 3 (its season 3 right?) of Lost was. Maybe that should be chucked out because of its "dragging out" of the storyline in an effort to keep the seasons going.

I'm sure I could find many other series in the GAT which should be chucked on terrible episodes.

Just a comment, personally I dont care too much for lists, I know what I like and as long as I can see it I'm happy (when I'm not I'm angry, yes Channel 10 I'm looking at you).

With respect to Channel 10 and their direct screenings. It could be direct, they could be getting it straight away from the US, but they have donwloaded too much and are being shaped :D.

Then again once it gets to the 3 or 4th episode it will be moved to 3 am on Channel 10 and then cancelled soon after.

As for Tuesday night, the Simpsons are both repeats these days. Channel 10 hasn't shown a new one in a while.

As for Channel 9's Commerical thing, they had another show in there that I shoved in the PVR to watch in 16x (mine doesn't go to 32) called "I-caught" which was a guy talking about Youtube videos, so its not suprising that it got replaced with this

As for the 90Gb download limits on Comcast users (BTW its cable not DSL) there has been a fair bit of debate about this. Its probably P2P shaping which is being done by a lot of ISPs in the US because they are trying to keep costs down as well as the RIAA/MPAA off their backs. As for actual competition in the US, its only in the bigger places, which is why so many smaller towns in the US are looking at "council based" ISP systems because they are getting screwed by the big companies. From what I hear the US is just as bad as we are, but they have better download limits.

On that topic, with respect to "Fast Tracking" I'll be watching them on the channels that do it. The time when I'm tempted to download is when something is on Channel 10 or 9 because I know it will be abused, say Torchwood or Sopranos. I'm happy for them to Fast track stuff if it means they will give it a go. Then again I'm a timeshifter so I dont really count.

BTW with respect to Channel 10 has anyone actually offically heard whether the second channel will be an SD or HD broadcast. My PVR is only SD so I'm hoping its SD only. Also anyone know when they will start broadcasting on this or is it just "Pie in the sky"

I love the pole dancing comment, thats a great quote. Fry's comment about "Learn the words" sorry I mean Singing bee, gave me a great chuckle too. I'm glad I'm not the only person in the world who lets out a cheer when Neighbours is over (and Futurama starts!).

As for Stan Grant he is in the same region as people like Derryn Hinch, Naomi Robinson because to me all he has done is Today Tonight (he was the Adelaide host for a while). He is awful as a news reader, and the SBS news is a mess these days with their fancy titles (but still doing everything via phone), and "coming ups" its just awful. I say go back to the 30 mins and bring back World Soccer, I mean World Sports.

As for Advertising, I think Work Place Relations is a dead horse. I have noticed they have started moving from the "happy campaign" and into the place the Liberals work well, the "Scare campaign". The online is evil ads (yes boys you are evil!!!) eg IM is evil, Gaming is evil, and the Drugs will destroy you ads. I've been seeing much more of these (especially on SBS) than any others recently. These ads will be the ones that turn their campaign around (I hope they dont but they are their best bet).

I'm just hanging out for the election so they can get back to advertising proper things like McDonalds (but not during C programming because McDonalds never advertise there, yes thats a quote from McDonalds).

I laughed when I saw the Chaser song, I figured that they had added it in just to get the news story the next morning because some "shock jock" would complain about it. I think they are doing this stuff now just to get free advertising (especially seeing they are talking to commerical stations).

As for the worm coverage, I laughed because the picture was getting smaller and smaller on channel 9. I only watched to see the worms reaction. Is it just me or was everyone asleep when Howard was talking (I actually pulled out my gameboy when he spoke).

It will be interesting to see what happens with Bingo night this week, I think the debate helped its ratings along nicely.

Has the HD channels programming up on the web yet?

Damn Channel 9 has dropped Weeds. That was their best show, guess its one less channel I have to worry about with the scheduling.

I watched the first ep of Newstopia and hated it, but stuck with the secon, and thought its pretty good and has jumped in my weekly rotation.

LOL! Josh, at least you saw some of Supernatural. When BigBrother ran over I missed all of Torchwood even though I padded the EPG out enough! I'm so paranoid now I run Channel 10 at least 40 mins over once its past 8:30, and when I was taping Weeds I was programming Channel 9 for an extra hour!

None of the commerical channels can ever get it right. (My Name is Earl is another that starts late) Although I have a new problem, as my PVR takes the digital clock it doesn't need modifying and "should be correct" but I keep finding I'm missing the start of Newstopia because SBS is starting their programs early (about 5-10 mins!). At least that ones is downloadable.

David Boxcutter, you are right, however Telstra is going to have a push with "Telstra TV" again methinks because there have been ads on their pages stating I can watch Damages (why would I want to when its on 9, superfast tracked!). I laugh at their "networked home, because it goes three floors, and my guess is their routers wouldn't make it (their equipment is awful, better buying your own, and 1/2 the price, like all Telstra deals). As for download limits, well you dont need that because of all the "free content" (actual quote from my Federal Politican when I saw him about competition in the broadband market, and why I only need Bigpond).

Fourthof5, its the old TV addage. You have to ask the questions, is there footage, are they white, and can we make a big deal out of it. If you answer No to any of those, then the time that they show it goes down (I know this sounds harsh but its the case). For the poor kid in a suitcase there may not have been that much footage (especially with the amount its being played).

I'm guessing the singer Forthof5 is talking about is Robert Goulet, who most people will know from being the guest at "Bart's Casino" in the Simpsons (ep $pringfield (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)). I didn't see the story just guessing because I heard about his death.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not a Nicole Cornes show anything but that. I live in the electorate that she is running in, it should be called the "Lets avoid the media" electorate. The Liberal candidate (its about a 5% swing needed) avoids the media too (Andrew Southcott) because he does so little for our electorate. Actually he does so little he claims that he does things in other electorates (such as getting CCTV for Mosley square), including electorates which have Labor members.

If I didn't hate my Liberal candidate I would boycott, but at the moment the only joy I will have is putting this guy last and having to have him for 4 more years!

Maybe with the water thing they are all avoiding it because they dont want to get germs or even poisoned! You never know what the terrorists (especially those ABC ones) are up to.

The Quiz isn't rigged, I won one and then has to get Josh to sort out a method to get it to me. So if it was rigged he wouldn't have picked me!

Thanks for the warning at the start of the show, I would have been fiddling with my headphones all show if I hadn't known (sounds like a loose wire).

With respect to Californication, I had the feeling that the series was too short and when they realised they were getting near the end they had to tie up all the loose ends so shoved it all into one show. I had the feeling it was a dream sequence, but I do agree that it felt too "real" to be one.

With respect to the HD comment I forgot to add this. I found my PVR switch channel 1 from being Ten Digital to Ten Digital HD. I ended up getting a message yesterday saying "HD Not Compatible" on my PVR, along with a black screen. Unless you have access to a HD tuner you will not get any signal out of it.

Now I have to plug on 10 on my PVR to see it, Damn you channel 10 (and had to reset all my settings).

Mine is on top of my set of boxes, so therefore its a "set-top box". Of course thats because all the vents are in the top of the stupid thing.
