in librarians in the news on eclectic librarian
It's my impression that #4 and #5 are industry-specific (confined to LibraryLand). Do you have examples where this isn't the case?

Well, where would we go? :-) b2evolution is awful. Movable Type is moribund. that leaves.. WordPress!

in Wordpress 2.2 Upgrade Fun on Is There Food?
I found that deleting the widget plugin and finding a new theme was all I really needed to do. It was just more of a change than I bargained on at the time, but it's all good... WP still rocks!

Hey, you-me both, except I tried it on a test blog first. Um, how do I get the widgets to work again..?

in Living in the Valley on Scobleizer
I live and work very close to the Mountain View campus and recently went there for a presentation on the Treo 700. When I got there I realized I was wearing one brown shoe and one black shoe. People were either a) too wrapped up in their general Microsoft happiness to notice, or b) too polite to comment. It was a fun early afternoon break--I hope it won't be the last time I'm there.

in an apology on eclectic librarian
Ah, but it only applies to posts I tag, yes? So as long as I don't get into recon, that won't matter, I'm-a thinkin'. Oh, and Mark, this isn't even your blog :) but I keep meaning to give you props for getting into the CAS program! Thanks you two.

Er, the tagging plugin doesn't make that happen, does it?

in tagging on eclectic librarian
Nice tip for how to tag, Eclectic. I should do the same--I too thought categories were enough but have been skeptical about that. How do you know what tags to use?

in Can I get to 100 posts of no GYM? on Scobleizer
"GYM" (and particularly "M") is what makes Scobleizer interesting and distinctive. Your schtick leverages insider information about Microsoft with a humorous and often fresh take on the big M. Let other people babble about Web 2.0 (and http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/11/11/web_two... is so far my favorite take on it)...

Scoble, I'm just sorry MS is making you work in the cafeteria--I thought they were better funded than that. If you make enough money doing that to get away now and then with your software buddies, try Amber India (the one on El Camino Real, humbler but even tastier than the fancy one in San Jose).

Outlook has been crashing on me several times a day since the latest service pack, but I suspect rebooting my computer during conference calls is not what you mean by "doing interesting things with software." Still, while you're here, enjoy the Valley. Even if you're a flack for Satan, you're one of my favorite bloggers (besides, Satan makes good software... most of it, anyway). Be sure to stop at In and Out for a burger-shake-n-fries at least once before you go back to the wet North.

in writer’s block? on eclectic librarian
"Publication pressure" can leave me tongue-tied, particularly if I'm already busy, but hey, if you post once a week, post proudly. :-) Your posts are great and the frequency doesn't need to be up there to make it so.

Good grief! I need to read and respond to that. I know I am not the only librarian to take objection to Michael Gorman's editorial. Oy vey.
