While I take no pleasure in the ruin of a man, it's pretty clear that Essjay should not remain in the positions of trust that he holds at Wikia and Wikipedia. (See - http://blog.xodp.org/2007/02/respected-wikipedi... -.) If Essjay was truly thoughtful and contrite, he would apologize to everyone who trusted him and resign.
