i think Clayface and Killer Croc should be the 2 distraction villains for Batman in the 3rd film while the Riddler should be the main villan. It'll be more of a challenge to Batman. But he could manipulate Clayface and Kiler Croc into fighting each other then go after the Riddler.

While I share your concern over how this was passed, I think this pales in comparison to what is in store if the Republicans end up deciding on the next confirmation for the high court. Just one reason it is imperative people concerned about this issue vote Democrat

A spirited comment for sure! But just wondering. When you say "let's get this crap fixed" a few questions come to mind.

First. Who is the "us" that will fix it?

Second. What specifically will "they" do to fix it?

Third. When will it be done?

The Dowe situation has gotten worse for him (better for you). There are other situations out there that need to come to light, don' you think?

I'm done folks. It all up to you. Will we see you are City Council next time?

That's a rather long list of reasons to get off yer butts and do something. Was it better last year? How about 2 or three yers ago?? Maybe 5 years ago? So what will it be like in 2 or three more. I'll offer a guess if YOU people don't act. Your responsibility for public safety clearly does not just start when the bell rings. Who will be responsible when you are not able to answer the call? City manager? City Council? Sure! But where exactly are you in the mix of responsible parties?

I have no idea about this issue from a legal point of view but it does puzzle me that a group would be unwilling to speak out in their own behalf, such as at City Council, out of fear of the consequences and YET willing to take on the city in a legal battle. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with that picture? My view is that only the lawyers tend to win in these situations. I was part of a suit agains the city. $72,000 and a year later and "we" got no where. (BTW, the Peakwood Drive suit was said to have had a tab of over $250,000 and those people LOST.) No one will do it for free and it's not likley the kind of action which would be taken on a contingency basis. And don't forget the buddy buddy legal system including the judges, meaning you would likely have to go out of the area to find someone willing to hammer on them without fearing the consequences of his associates and setting judges. Go in for your initial consultation...which would probably be free and very brief...and he'll tell you you may have a case, come back with a $40,000 retainer. 40 grand goes real fast at $300 per hour. But hey, get yourselves 100 to 150 men/women to chip in $500 and get the lawyer a new BWM!

I do understand the concern over the consequences of speaking out but I have seen some very heated comments directed specifically at council members and very honestly nothing bad has happened to the speaker...unless you threaten to shoot them as did Mr. Gravley! Or if you speak up out of turn and disrupt the meeting, as also happened. Speakers should have their facts together and make their points respectfully but firmly and avoid threats. Believe me the biggest statement is one that is never spoken IF they can do it...get 100 or 200 people there all to make simply direct statements. The point being that the NUMBER of speakers sends the message far better than what anyone has to say. If they cannot do that, then it is simply best to tuck the old tail and take whatever come down the pike. Another point about it. The time is right now to do it. Dowe's an embarrassment to Harris and company. As I understand it, Harris is calling for an audit of expenses and there could be more abuses uncovered. Public sentiment fades quickly but right now you can get a lot of mileage out of the situation to underscore your points. The results of the audit may provide more fuel OR it may show this is the worst of it...and the public will quickly loose interest. You also need to get to the current slate of Council candidates for their commentary. You guys and gals have an opportunity NOW to make you case...Dowe's issues, and the elections as well. Sit around and talk about it won't do any good. As they say...time to walk the walk!

Yes, it is crazy and I have begun to wonder about the citizens of Roanoke for not being more active and aware of "What's Going On".
Roanoke city is being run by So Roa and a couple from Salem and Botetourt as well. "Public interest" is defined by those people and City Council policy is similarily established by them. The current theme is to attract "young professionals" so that's where the money is going to be directed. The city manager is also a very big part of the problem. Fire and police are being put way down the list...have been and will continue to be, along with the rest of the city employees. Do you go to City Council? It won't do much good initially, but there is no better and cheaper way to get your message out and EVENTUALLY, if you stick with it, it CAN have an impact. Don't take this personally, but I tend to suspect the firemen are too deeply embedded in their situation. It's understandable but you need to look around and see the big picture. Citizens all across Roanoke are getting the screws. Downtown merchants, Williamsom Road, SE, NW residents, police...and yet with all the abuses, nothing seems to be able to bring these various groups together to address the problem. You can spend money on "public informational messages" but it's not going to be effective. And you can talk of unions but thanks to the good Commonwealth's laws, you'll fail there as well. GET EVERY OFF DUTY FIREMAM AT CITY COUNCIL NEXT MEETING AND MAKE A STATEMENT. And have everyone bring just one "citizen supporter" AND don't just sit there and have one or two people speak, every one of you should sign up to speak. You only get three minutes so be very specific and speak from the heart. Be aware that "selfish interests" tend to tarnish your objectives and thus the need to look beyond just the fire house. Good fortune to all and thanks for what you do.

What's going on in Roanoke? Funny anyone should ask this AGAIN. Seems I have seen this question several times recently. But do you recall the Tribune putting it in print back prior to the last Council elections? I do. And I helped stuff hundreds of copies of that paper in door throughout Roanoke City. But what did the good citizens of Roanoke do but go on and elect Alfred anyhow. All I can say is that you got the brainless one along with another pair of goof balls making a goof ballish majority and a run away redhead still running the city. You got a small opportunity to make a little change this election.
First, while no one is currently running against Harris, it is not necessary to vote for him. Select your candidates for council, just don't vote for mayor. Oh sure, he'll still win but what a statement it would make to see 20,000 voters cast ballots for council and maybe only 2 or 3 thousand for mayor. Harris should be able to see the message in that.

Secondly however consider your votes for Council carefully. To date there is one serious candidate running (Valerie Garner) and that wild guy Lockhard. Forget him, VOTE FOR VALERIE.

Sorry to hear that, man. Any word yet on how long you will be off

or whatever.

On the bright side, if there is a best time of year to have an

injury like this it would be now. The coldest yuckiest part.

You'll probably make it back to bikeland just in time for spring.

in City Manager doesn’t want crimes or fires given a quadrant designation on Roanoke Fire Blog
I think there is a lot of truth in that but there is also a lot of crime in other locations as well. In addition to you views, I think they are trying to minimize the reality of crime in Roanoke overall, making them (Darlene and the Harrisites, look like they are doing a great job. If the good citizens of Roanoke don't get off their rears, it's only going to continue AND get worse. Bless our dedicated firemen and policemen. And merry Christmas to you and yours!

What remains a puzzle to me is why voters in Roanoke contiune to put up with it. TMD in conjunction with Harris and FitzP are allowing this (won't say the word) to do what she and what their string pullers in So Roa and SW city want. IF the voters would have gone with any combination of Revercomb, McConnel, Bowers, White or Macfarlane, sweet big Darlene would be in the unemployment lines now. You may have another opportunity to change the future of the city come the spring council elections. ANYONE supported by the current council majority will be BAD BAD BAD for the city. Look to someone else. And now that Harris and the Harrisites also control the city Democratic committee, voters need to be smarter that just voting for a "D". Fact is that Lea himself only has a slim shot at running as a D, unless he buckles under to the Harris whip...I would never have thought he would, but don't know any more. Get off your butt Roanoke. Get out and get involved and send Darlene back to Tidewater and get a council majority in place that will respond to the CITIZENS, not to the influence and desires of those few people in So Roa and a couple other places. And you business owners better put the clamps down on that Chamber "PAC". Funny how business owners belong to the Chamber, but just like the voters, they let the Board do what they please with their money. The other options, of course, include getting out of the city. Actually, that may be the smarter move.

Yeah, it was just something that had been happening recently, the need to write something and get money from it. I don't know when the change happened.

But I'm back on the path of the Light Side now so there's nothing to worry about. ;)

And visiting would be cool. :) I'll have to get more settled in my two part-time jobs first, but yeah that's sound.
