Thanks for the tutorial. I'm new to snipcart and this really helps.
A few comments/questions:

* There's a typo in the folder.yaml template. Should be "products/details" (plural products).
* I had difficulty copying my API key at https://app.snipcart.com/da... because the font is too big and there's a overflow: ellipsis, so the end of my key was replaced by ellipsis.
* I'm trying this locally with a statamic.localhost domain. On the product page I get a 401 Unauthorized error to https://app.snipcart.com/ap... because of Ajax CORS. I haven't found any mentions of how to fix this in your documentation.

I would really like to see new results for linode now that they upgraded to faster 8 cores cpus and doubled the ram. Using ext4 on the linode to make it more even would be great.

If I had to do this setup again I would look at using nginx with
+nginx_modules_http_passenger. I don't know if it would be easier to
setup, but it would probably be the fastest and less memory intensive
combo imo.

I used an init script I found on the gentoo bugzilla, but the lighttpd guys made a separate project for spawn-fcgi at http://redmine.lighttpd.net.... I know many people use php-fpm, but you have to patch php to use it and it's too much work for me.

I agree with you on the mp3 problem. My main problem is that Ubuntu can't decide if they are doing a completly free distribution or a distribution with key proprietary applications. They always contradict themselves in that area.

You're right that I probably should not have mentioned the names because it's more a debian problem than an ubuntu. Everyone should use the real names, like xf86-video-via.
