What's really fitting was that almost IMMEDIATELY after posting that comment, I got in my car, and on the local radio station, they were playing an older rendition of "Love Lifted Me" (what timing!), and I started to think more about the verdict, and Bernie's life sentence. By then, and with that 1930's antiquated version of a Christian hymn emanating from the car stereo, I began to wonder if the life in prison sentencing was rather antiquated itself. Not siding for agreement's sake, but I do think now I am favoring more along the lines of your statement: "I life in prison is a drastic over-sentencing...".

I still would love to personally perform a case study. Unfortunately, working on case studies for one's theses/other research does tend to get in the way.

Re: People, it’s almost Friday night. You’ve got the... - Mortuary Report

I just saw this actually, and really enjoyed it. It's my kind of movie, in the sense that it's blackly comedic, and splices reality with fiction (not to mention, Jack Black's singing). I especially liked the addition of actual townspeople, making it more of a docu-drama.

As far as the verdict goes, I believe it was just. I think it would have been much "easier" to have a trial in the county Marjorie and Bernie were residents of, and think of Bernie as "not guilty," due to Marjorie's overall callousness towards the community/her own family, and Carthage's love and adoration of Bernie. However, as hateful as she was as a person, no one deserves to be locked in a freezer for nine months (especially not covered by frozen chicken pot pies).

However, it goes without saying, that Bernie's life was a sad one. He was obviously emotionally incapable of coming to grips with his own reality (?). This is coming out really wrong, but feels so oh-so spot on in my brain. In all...I feel as if Bernie Tiede would make an exceptionally interesting case study.

Oh, by the way, this is Paris.

Re: My War with Gluten

My dad's girlfriend has celiac disease, so over the past several years, I've been learning more about her eating habits. She tends to drink ciders, especially "Strongbow." (http://www.strongbowcider.c... I also had a lactose intolerant roommate, so learning how to cook for the two of us was a new experience as well. You can still enjoy pizza that is for sure! At green markets, they sell millet/flax seed pizza crusts (they have gluten free options at Mellow Mushroom as well for when you dine out), and you can always throw a ton of great stuff on without the cheese. Are you omitting all dairy? Or just cow's milk? If it's just cow's milk, you could throw on a bit of feta or goat cheese just to get a bit of that dairy fix. Anyway! I know that options are getting better as time goes on - My heart goes out to you.

Re: Happy Hump Day: Nick Hexum

I.love.this.man.

Re: Happy Hump Day: James Dean

Before you see any of those....watch Auntie Mame! with Rosalind Russel! As in what!?
Anyway, James Dean is a wonderful actor, and unfortunately only made three feature length films; Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden (based on the John Steinbeck novel), and Giant.

I own all three, and would recommend all three. Giant, is just that...a giant movie. It's MY version of Gone with the Wind in the sense of sprawling romantic epics. East of Eden is one of my favorite books of all time, and one of my favorite movie adaptations of a book of all time.

I second Anika on the Some Like it Hot recommendation -- that movie has a great cast, a great script, and one of the funniest/best ending lines in cinema history ever. I swear, if it wasn't for TCM, I would most likely not have cable.

I don't think Breakfast at Tiffany's is the greatest movie to get someone into watching more classic film(s).

The Sting? Barefoot in the Park? The Third Man? Citizen Kane? The Apartment? What a Way to Go? Cat on a Hot Tin Roof? Gentlemen Prefer Blondes? How to Marry a Millionaire? I could go all day, but I'll stop...this comment is getting epically annoying.

Re: Happy Hump Day: Brad Pitt

I actually find him more and more attractive as time goes by.

Re: Happy Birthday LOST!

I miss it so much!
