What "theory" is the DA talking about, the same as Bonnie Dumanis the DA in San Diego county (who got her ass kicked at the CA Supreme Court). It's about time these political hacks stopped their campaign to punish sick people for using nature to lessen their pain. AND I hope Jerry Brown is watching this unfold as he and his department issued an entire rulebook covering how dispensaries should be operated within the law.

I think the FCC should revisit their rules on cable & satellite television concerning "willful and superfluous communications" since FOX is constantly spewing rumors, lies, and generally shit Glenn Beck & O'Reilly have made up. FOX is a menace to our democracy and unfortunately many dim-witted Americans actually rely on this network as their primary news source. At the very least the FCC should regulate use of branding bullshit as news.

Michael Moore gets it. My feeling is people across the US are very angry but haven't yet focused their anger. When they do, watch out! One thing I'm watching is the mortgage defaults. This boob couldn't grasp the impact on consumers if ISPs are allowed to "game" internet content; he's just bought & paid for by big business and needs to resign. After all, McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate; what does THAT tell you!

Without a strong public option, or at the very least a reasonably-priced Medicare buy-in, all that's left of this bill is a bonanza for the very sons of bitches who have shoved higher and higher health care costs up our keister since Reagan allowed the 1st HMO. Let's kill the bill and all cancel our health coverage tomorrow. That'll show 'em! And next year, I'm not voting for ANY incumbent or ANYONE who takes money from big corporations.

Look, we started with the hope of Single-Payer; that degraded to the so-called "Public" option (with triggers and all sorts of "gotcha's") that didn't suit, so the medicare opt-in (at a significant cost, $700 a month!). The point these guys are missing is...health insurance COSTS TOO MUCH! $20K for a family of 4 earning $60K? Are you kidding? This bill is garbage; throw it out!

Big Eddie is spot-on. Thank God he's speaking truth to power with his MSNBC show & the radio show. I can't support a bill that mandates purchase of insurance from private companies; this turkey of a bill is nothing but a giveaway to the very companies that have wrecked our health care resources. We need to find a real way to REDUCE healthcare costs, not supplement the high costs with tax breaks, etc. $20K premiums for a family of four is about $15K too much!

Great idea! The servicers who are processing the loan mods do not have any decision-making authority to reduce principal. That's what is going to make this work, and it's a real good idea if the foreclosure is halted, period, while they figure out how to make the loan work, or not. Those of you pssed off about the idea of some homeowner getting a handout need to realize, many of these homes were sold at highly inflated prices by realtors who winked and nodded at the crazy prices.

I'm with Jesse on this. Although I read HP and respect Arianna and what she's accomplished, rather than censor talk regarding 911 we need to expand it. There are way too many unanswered questions; too many coincidences such as: Did you know former pres HW Bush was meeting with Bin Laden's brother on 911? And did you know his son (and W's brother) Marvin P Bush was on the board of the company providing security for the WTC? Too many unanswered questions; I think HP's policy sucks. Go Jesse!

The ONLY reason we don't have a public option, or even single-payer for that matter, is our elected representatives are protecting the profits of the private insurance companies at the expense of the electorate. We no longer have a democracy in the U.S., we are now a facist nation controlled by big corporations, and it's going to get worse unless we speak out and take action. Just look at what the Supreme Court ruled on "no limits" to corporate election donations. It's no longer a question of conservative/liberal, it's the people versus the corporations. And this sh*t doesn't just "happen"; it's all part of the elite's grand plan.

I recall when Turner started CNN and back then it was novel to see "news" on tv all the time. Then, they started to diversify and feature hosts with their own shows. When Larry King interviews a true newsmaker it can be enlightening or "make" news, so some of that is legit. Where they cross the line away from "news" is when they feature contributors and their "opinions" about the news. It isn't news, it's discussion; gossip if you will, IMO a weakness. Fox's viewer appeal is a cartoonish attempt to sway low-info voters to the neo-con elitist agenda, facist agenda. Almost a trojan horse as the more successful they are, the more their viewers suffer in so many ways.

If you compare the BLS report with the ADP report you see two totally different pictures. BLS relies on "surveys" which may not be completed truthfully by businesses with something to gain by "gaming" the numbers, while the ADP report is based on actual payroll numbers (because that's what they do; issue payroll checks). We're in a world of hurt job-wise & it's NOT getting better.

I can't believe what I'm hearing coming out of Boxer's mouth. Boy has she misgauged public opinion in California. I guess she figures her opponents will be against legalization so she's pre-empting them on the subject, but I'll bet this will cost her votes, mine included. We not only need the tax revenue from legalization but it will give Californians a new way to "Work at Home" and give a boost to agriculture (legally).
