I definitely think they're missing the customization boat. Themes and the ability to bounce to a URL and you'd basically create a hosted Sweetcron solution.

I agree that there's a lot of room for progressive thinking when it comes to theme development. What's interesting is that all these examples (and some of my own themes) give equal weight to content, which isn't ideal for every situation. Lately I've been fascinated with a layout technique from Suprb. It properly tiles variable length content to a grid, which in my mind would be more appropriate for the type of content you'd find in a typical sweetcron installation, for example. I've adapted the layout on my own tumblr and while it can seem cluttered at times, the layout generally feels more efficient to me.

It's the last bit of code under the "Posts" heading. For instance, you could insert in your theme a block:Post4 which would contain content that will always appear as the 4th bock on every page.

For someone without a current blog I would argue for a Wordpress.com account. You'd stand to benefit organically from the existing community, and can pull it into SC. I wouldn't even hassle with a WP installation (even though it's trivial) and rely on the strengths of the free service.

I'm sure there are file size limitations, but you can record audio directly on your iPhone into http://www.mobelux.com/tumb... - posting it to your tumblr account. Pull that into SC, and you've got an interesting way to update your site with rehearsal samples (for instance). Cool for musicians on the go.

Etsy is a seemingly endless treasure-trove of stuff, isn't it? I appreciate the fact that you find the owl statue "pointless." But he has "brown fleecey tummy and eyes, and thighs" ?!?!
