People don't install them because they want to, they install them because they have to. It's almost like Microsoft Silverlight, it will have a hard time picking up steam because they have to prove there is real, practical value.

I think Kinset is pretty cool though, once you get it installed.

Re: Breaking: PayPerPost Becomes IZEA

It will be under the umbrella of this new company. SezWho provides a sort of universal commentator profile, not a new commenting system. My point in the debate is that SezWho takes up the same real estate as a system like Disqus. I don't believe they are cross compatible. Even if they were, I think it would be "messy".

Re: A Practical Guide To Productivity

Yea, it's pretty great. ha.

Re: Babel Fish Is Not A Diplomatic Tool

Translation software is great if you are only trying to get a very rough estimate of what is being said, but I don't think it makes a very good international relations tool. ha.

Re: Hakia: Semantic Based Search

That's the second most important role of Web 2.0, to borrow indiscriminately for obscure cultural references in order to create catchy products names.

Re: Babel Fish Is Not A Diplomatic Tool

Yea it would great to have a collaborative translation service. For people who understand what is going on it's business as usual, but for people like your Mom who have their hard work stolen and used for who knows what, it can be a little troubling. I think if you really need to keep your content under control, you might suggest that she disables her RSS feed. For a personal site it's not always necessary.

Re: Sploggers Steal Content, It’s What They Do

Rich I really respect what you guys are doing, and I would love to chat with you (over Gchat or email) if you have have the time at some point.

The most useful tool you could provide someone like me is a way to track all the splogs who have "borrowed" my content. More than the theft itself, I want a means of blacklisting them through Spam Karma and Akismet so that they can't steal my comment space with their fake trackbacks.

The likelihood of any of these sploggers actually holding themselves accountable is nil, but if you made it easy for publishers to report them to the major search engines that would be a boon to the cause.

Thanks for the comment!

Re: Babel Fish Is Not A Diplomatic Tool

:) I guess some Croatian is better than none, unless of course you're dealing with foreign ministers.

Re: How To Review Social Shots

Great product overall Fernando, glad I had a chance to give it a look!

Re: Babel Fish Is Not A Diplomatic Tool

If you're going be sure to use Google Translate, Babel Fish might get you in trouble. ;)

Re: Sploggers Steal Content, It’s What They Do

It definitely is stealing. Mobile tech, RF IDs and ubiquitous Wi-Fi are taking us on a crash course towards a world where we all have access to the net whenever we want it. More than that, we will all be able to interact with terrestrial objects through the web much more seamlessly than we can today.

Another big question is whether all this information and access to information will make our lives more complex or less, how well do you think we will adapt to the increased information load?

Re: The State Of The Web

3D is an interesting technology -but- I don't think it is being done well at the moment. The only way that 3D can make waves is if worlds can be created that actually add utility.

For example,

How does one do web search in 3D that is as easy as something like Google?

How does one send email in 3D?

It almost seems like 3D worlds would best be used as proxies for social networks, with access to the "real" internet inside of it.

Re: Babel Fish Is Not A Diplomatic Tool

I am sure that was amusing.
