If you read the original article (the section 'A Simple Solution') you will see that the suggested improvement is to adjust the layout so that the road without priority becomes two staggered T-junctions on the main road, preventing drivers blowing straight through a junction they think is clear (with tragic consequences) - an improvement successfully adopted on other similar junctions.

None of the things you suggest would have prevented the deaths of the law-abiding cyclists (who were travelling on the road that had priority at this junction).

My doctor recently reduced my repeat prescription from 2 ventolin inhalers to 1 without telling me, effectively doubling the price to £7.65/inhaler, as I'm not lucky enough to get free prescriptions. I wasn't looking forward to trying to get it sorted out; now I don't need to bother, as this is cheaper anyway!
