What are you guys, a bunch of sheep? The 2/28 rumor was based on a P.O. from one store that ordered 18 units that are scheduled to arrive on the 28th. 18 units? You think this store is ordering only 18 units for launch? Really? Or maybe, just maybe, some extra to arrive after launch? It never fails to amaze me how little people actually think about what these rumors are based on.

I say: depends on the reason for the hope that you have. If the reason is a sometimes irrational faith, that's the reason you will give. If your reason is the perceived orthodoxy of your doctrinal beliefs, then that's the reason you will give.

I hear that. Still don't like it. I guess when I hear "poor," I tend to think of those who, try as they might, can't feed their kids every day. And if I start to think about how they might be a benefit to me, as I throw away my leftovers, by revealing to me my own spiritual brokenness, well, then, I might just puke my guts out.

Who's justice?

If we're talking about God's justice, that is a concept so contrary to man's idea of justice that it repeatedly takes man by surprise. God's justice is so amazing that it often leaves even His own people profoundly embarrassed and offended. Even Luther acknowledged that he could not understand Paul's gospel at first because he did not understand what the apostle meant when he said that the gospel revealed God's justice (Rom. 1:17).

...so there might be hope yet for Brother MacArthur. I fear, though, that he might have too vested an interest in his position.

I'm neither a therapist nor a spiritual adviser. And I'm also cautioned by a portion of the video you posted yesterday: I don't know what data you (or your friend) has left out or edited.

But I will say this. I've been there. And from experience, 3 things pop instantly to mind when I read this story.

1. These are the pains of a boy, not a man.

2. Please, please, do not humor him in his assertion that this problem stems primarily from his wife and her attitudes. It almost certainly does not.

3. See if he would be willing, for a few months, at first, to become as involved in his kids' lives as his wife is. Not to get closer to his wife, but to get closer to his kids. After a few months, see if his relationship with his wife doesn't magically improve by 1000%.

Like I said, just off the top of my head.
