I'm just exhausted... its almost 12:30am... just left the hospital...E.R..

As you mentioned above..
voting does not bring anything to the table...
i can create 1000 "robots" with emails and vote for myself 1000 times...
its not gonna affect judges or anybody but it does one major damage...
People think that by voting they just did their "job"...
Even if all the votes are totally honest... there is no comment exchange...
no conversation... no learning... so whats the point...
And imagine all those "unpopular" kids, no families, no friends... maybe orphans...
Nobody will vote for them...
But does that make their essays lesser or not good enough???
of course not..
ALL, JUDGES, STUDENTS, PHOTOGS... please get involved...
ask questions, disagree , agree... LEARN... GET INVOLVED ... there is no other way..
All... please show that you car... its a great opportunity here....

... I do get THE "feeling"...
the more i go through your essay... the more i love it... and get captivated by your personality...
Did you include any "self portraits"?
Again, i get what your saying... about the "surroundings" instead of focusing on people or faces...

I also find the use of black and white very elegant..
We can open a new discussion about post processing here
and whats pure and whats cheating but my general opinion
is do what you have to do as long as it suits your vision...

Thanks for your feedback on my photoessay on Vewd Student Documentary Contest.
I wrote a reply there but it somehow did not manage to register on the page. So I thought of writing to you.
About why I chose this particular subject: Well, to begin with I have long been trying to gain an understanding of the people who live in this city coming from different backgrounds, about how they negotiate their lives about it. In doing so I feel I am able to understand my surroundings better and better negotiate my way through this human mosaic. Having born and brought up in this city, I have found photography bringing me closer to that process of understanding, it has helped me come across situations with people that I otherwise would not have come across in the first place. These wrestler are like any other people you might come across in this city doing their job, living with their family and helping make ends meet. But it is only when they wake up every morning to practice their craft that they do something special, holding up their identity through their craft, before they go on to do other things...and at another level they are helping in keeping the flame of India's traditional cultures burning through their honing of skills, which I think is quite a novel thing to do in these changing times...
I hope I am able to make some sense to you...
I like reading your comments on DAH's blog, especially when you challenge the general perceptions.

now... this is the "real america"...
great overall "feeling"... i kinda felt though that the essay is going
through an orbit... no beginning, no end.... but this could be fixed with the right edit...
Remember, the right photo, in a "wrong" sequence, could weaken any story !!!!
congratulations though... you are an "insider",you do have access.... you are honest...

I also learned things i didnt know... Educational , yet not biased...
Great story teller you are... you are not preaching... you are not
suggesting... you opened our eyes...

honestly you took this competition to another level...
the "opener" photo is Amazing... Josef Koudelka...
Edit is tight... i got a "feeling" immediately...
I can dare to say that a great "book" is on the start...
Overall , this is the number one essay by far....
i will come back with questions but i am astonished...

ok.. TIMOTHY...
i have no problem with the wrong exposures and the "wrong" white balances here...
on the contrary... i love them...
but you forgot something important... the audience... thats the magic trick...
The wrestlers they can only "give" us the story... but the audience would give us the feeling...
You are definitely up to something... but it seems that you fell in love with your own photos
more than you should... therefore i see the " same" photo over and over..
Again, for ALL in here... its ok to love the story you chose... its ok to believe in your photos...
but you have to think of your audience... A photo that mean a lot to you... might mean nothing to them...

i see a great photographer here... i see random photos...
scattered around.. i have no problem with mixing
black and white with color... not at all...
but i have a problem with "mixing" stories....
I see no essay here... i see your talent though...
but you gotta be able to be a story teller otherwise.... otherwise,
there is no story... no story... no essay... make sense?
I wouldnt dare to edit you because everything could stay
and at the same time everything could go...
but... i do see your talent... i totally do..
