When downloading the ebook to your computer you will be asked for which Kindle you want to download: for the kindle that you have just manualy registered or for the Kindle that Amazon registered for you. Choose the Kindle that you have manualy registered and you will be able to download the book witout the error message/

Re: amazon kindle outside of the US

Hi,

Thank you for this article it helped me aquire Kindle 2 and content for it.
Here is how it worked for me (A U.S. credit card is not required):
Got a U.S. address from a company that forwards all parcels to non U.S. countries.
Purchased a gift card on Amazon with enough credit for Kindle 2, and asked to email it to myself.

In my Amazon account, I have removed all credit cards (without removing all credit cards, Amazon checks the card you choose for geographic information, even if you have enough gift balance and
a credit card is not required for the purchase)

Also I have set the new U.S. address as the 1 - click address (this is essential
for purchasing ebooks),

Then I have purchased the device (I have purchased the refurbished version, - it was completely new and works without a flaw).

The Kindle 2 arrived after about two weeks.

When you purchase a Kindle, Amazon automaticaly registers that device with your Amazon account.
It seems that since the device is not in the U.S., it is not completing the automatic registration
and you will not be able to download content for it. (You will be able to buy ebooks, but
when downloading them to the computer a message appears that says:
"We're sorry, this title is not currently available for download. ".
To solve this issue, manualy register your newly arrived Kindle (you can de-register the Kindle
that Amazon automaticaly placed in your account). Registration of a new Kindle to your account only requires the
serial number that is printed on the device's back.
