But to get value out, you have to put something in -- photos, contacts, appointments, lists of your interests and your blog musings...

...Therein lies the rub. When entering data into Facebook, you're sending it on a one-way trip. Want to show somebody a video or a picture you posted to your profile? Unless they also have an account, they can't see it. Your pictures, videos and everything else is stranded in a walled garden, cut off from the rest of the web...

...Like locked cell phones and copy-protected music, Facebook is on the wrong side of the open-network debate. Facebook is a sealed bubble. Facebook users are locked into Facebook, just as iTunes locks music fans to Apple's iPod...

http://www.wired.com/softwa...

Re: Stream of Unconsciousness

This is badass. This is what the web is all about! Unfortunately Facebook won't be on board anytime soon.

Re: Stream of Unconsciousness

!!? lmfao. What? Are you trying to start the beginning of the "Music and Entertainment Accessibility movement"!? This makes no sense. I mean seriously. Anyone that's not on a Linux box can download iTunes, spend 4 bucks and obtain the tracks. Simple as that. That's 99% of computer users.

A web developer utilizing best practices in order to make information available via the web and a musician selling tracks through their record label via iTunes are two compleeeetely different things and the fact that they are even being compared here is a real head-scratcher...

Re: Chip Stuff

Amazing.

Re: ORBITAL2012

"Huckabee's selling fascism!?"
