There is a limit on how thick you can go with these tools. The thickest i usually go with these tools are the whiskers on a cat. You can always try something that is dull and try using that to get thicker lines. Experimenting should always be part of drawing and it will make drawing much more interesting.

Re: Drawing Realistic Tiger With Pencil-Eyes

I will be adding the rest of the tutorials. I want to add video tutorials but i need to get the camera first. Hopefully there are enough people that can help out so i can begin adding these tutorials. Im sure they will greatly compliment the written tutorials and will make it much easier to learn the techniques. Well take care and thank you.

Re: Tools of the Trade » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

thank you so much. glad tutorial has been helpful. Well i have made a tutorial on how i draw hair. A kneaded eraser is great for highlights but it can also be used with the technique that is explained in that tutorial. You can read about it and if you have any questions just comment and ill answer. Well take care and thank you.

Re: Drawing the Human Eye

my goal for these tutorials is to add detail to your existing drawings. Most people miss out small details which make a difference in creating that realism. The same technique that you add on the left eye is used on the right eye so there is no difference. The reference photos that i show are just to show people the details that make up the eye. Most people don't notice these things and by actually seeing them and understanding them, you will begin to make them part of your drawings. Even if you do draw from life, you are drawing only what you can see. The purpose of the photographs is to understand with much more detail what you cannot see from real life. Its a tool to improve any drawing and it will make a big difference in any drawing or painting.

Re: Drawing Realistic Cat Eyes » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

You can probably find them in your local art store. They should have them. you can use a shading stump, which is similar but its made out of compressed paper. You dont get the same control as with the color shaper but it does help with shading.

Re: Drawing Realistic Cat Eyes » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

yes the colour shaper kids paint set, it comes with different sizes and shapes which can be helpful with getting different effects.

Re: New Pencil Drawing Tool Discovered » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

Its a pencil. I have tried both and each can be used for different areas. The firm one is great for tighter areas since you have much control. The soft one is great for pulling graphite in pulling graphite to lighter areas. I would start with the firm one because you'll get much more control and then later one try out the softer ones.

Re: Drawing the Human Eye

wow you really understood the technique and got amazing results. Subtle details make a big difference in adding so much realism. Keep up the great work and understand these small details, not only in eyes, but in every object so you can get incredible results like this.

Re: Drawing the Human Eye

thank you so much im glad it has been helpful. A tip that i can give you to make things easier with a kneaded eraser is to put down pencil lightly. Don't press to hard on paper or else it will be very difficult to remove with kneaded eraser. You can test it out on a separate sheet of paper. By doing it like this you barely have to touch the paper with the kneaded eraser to remove pencil. I will see if i can add a short video on how to use the color shaper. Well let me know ifyou have any other questions.

Re: Drawing the Human Eye

beautiful work, you really have a soft touch with pencil. From here on is all about practice and like i mentioned in the tutorial, try to understand what you are drawing. Well keep up the great work.

Re: Drawing the Human Eye

a color shaper or blender is similar to a tortillon except that you have much more control. I use this tool for blending around tight areas. Its made out of silicone and it comes in different shapes which makes it great for different creating different effects. Its usually used for paints but its amazing with pencil. If you're not sure where to get them you can check them out here. Adding value with progresso can be done by layering. Add some pencil and blend and repeat until it is dark enough, i recommend using a color shaper to blend over the lines because its great for that. Great work and keep it up.

Re: Making Your Own ACEO Cards

you're welcome.

Re: Drawing Realistic Hair with Pencil Part One

hello and welcome. Well what you can do is email me the drawing that you have and i can give you some tips on what you need to do. This technique needs to be used with an understanding of hair. I recommend that you first study some images of hair so you have an idea of how hair flows and how it behaves. Each indentation that you make would represent a hair or clumps of hair. So if you know where to add these indentations you will have better results. You can send the image to onlypencil@hotmail.com and will do my best to help you. Take Care.

Re: Suggestive Realism » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

one good way that i can recommend for your to learn how to see values is to convert color images to black and white. This is a good way to see how colors translate to black and white. By doing this you can have a better understanding of values. If you have a access to photoshop you can do this by using the desaturate image enhancement. If you dont have photoshop you can download a program called GIMP which is free and will be good enough for this. Try this out and you will get a better understanding of values. I hope this wasn't confusing, if you have any other questions just leave another comment.

Re: Pencil Cat Drawing-Work In Progress » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

thank you so much and you are absolutely right, anybody can draw like this and its all about practicing and understanding what you are drawing. Its not going to be an overnight thing, but as you practice more and more you will see results, that i can guarantee. Drawing has been my passion for many years. I understood that in order to improve i had to dedicate time to draw and study reference images to understand what i was going to draw. Well i hope you drop by again. take care.

Re: Drawing the Human Eye

im not sure what you mean
