How are they going to nix one of the original Olympic sports? It's time to redefine the winter Olympics as either the "cold" Olympics considering all of the sports are on snow or ice, or start including some winter sports that aren't so cold like wrestling and basketball.

Re: Excerps from "My 1992 Diary" = GOLD | hahasforhoohas.com

P.S. There's a great book that we refer to in our book SUPER Parenting: Raising the Next Generation, called the Five Love Languages of Children by Gary Chapman and Ross Campbell, MD, that details how to love our children according to their love language. Each child likes to receive and give love in different ways and it's important, just as you stated Kristen, to give love according to each child's needs. I would definitely recommend reading both books for more information. Especially since children need to know and feel unconditional love from their parents because it is their greatest emotional need (Chapman & Campbell, 2005).

Re: Are You An Armchair Creative?

Interestingly, I often do this. When I need inspiration or direction, I relax, comfortably and go into a meditative state. I've gotten some of my best ideas in these moments, leading me to believe that this is a necessary part of the creative process. Sitting back, opening up and allowing inspiration to naturally manifest, from the depths of your mind or from the heavens, whichever you believe. Either way, the creativity flows.

Re: Do You Find Yourself Acting Like Your Parents did When They Raised You, Now That You Have Children? - Super Parenting Social Network

I've literally caught myself mid-sentence, thinking, if that didn't sound just like my mom. I suppose it's inevitable. I don't mind it though, as long as I'm imitating the good aspects of my parents' parenting style.

Re: Extreme Parenting 'Radical Unschooling' ABC News - Super Parenting Social Network

To me, this sounds more like a permissive parenting style, which studies show is less effective than both an authoritative or authoritarian style. Although these parents may be well-meaning, there's a reason for the use of the old adage 'spare the rod spoil the child', because children need structure, rules, and to learn to participate in the larger community according to social norms that dictate that the world doesn't revolve around them. By acting on the whims of their children, they are stifling their growth in these areas. I hope this trend doesn't catch on because the last thing we need is to start spoiling our children even more than we are already doing now.
