It is good to see you're coming with the great topic of multi-tenant PLM. It is very important. I found the definition of "server" (as much as I can rely on Google Translate for French) is a bit limited. Is it the same application server, database, physical server?

@marclind Everything seems to be impossible... until it is done.

I remember one day people were saying that to download Aras for free is a very stupid idea. Then some people said that the cloud is a stupid idea because large companies will never allow data to go to the cloud. And you just announced it now.

Not speaking about classical concerns like CAD cannot run on PC (AutoCAD), MCAD cannot run on Windows (Solidworks), CAD cannot run in the browser (Onshape). Some less famous like MS SQL will never compete with Oracle and DB2...

So, we need your skepticism about multi-tenancy. I will keep it for my records for the next 5 years, then we talk :).

I wonder why do you think so? When Solidworks took Pro-E by storm in 1995, the key difference was to go down from $15-20K Pro/E license to $5K and also down from $10-20k workstation to $3-4K PCs. When it happened first time, the narrative from big vendors was - PC/SW won't perform as a real workstation with real 3D CAD. The same will happen with multi-tenancy - it is a combination of availability and different cost structure and business model?

Honestly, I don't understand this graph. I understand C 2.0 replaced C 1.0 as an interchangeable rev, which is fine. But what is R 1.0? And why R 1.0 is connected to C 1.0. It was not there from the beginning.. What did I miss?

Hi Rob, thanks for clarification! I think, it is helpful to understand what is a difference between "all-inclusive" platforms and "granular" application services. If Aras is allowing to use individual application services and federate data, customer should probably not have an difference where platform/application is used. However, in your video you suggest that in such case users will be isolated. What does it mean?

Yoann, Standards isn't a pragmatic solution. It is an idyllic solution. You can force standards by applying military force. (large corp IT) or you can force it by OEM-TierN hierarchy (no standard, no business). But solution that restricted to standard without flexibility in mind is dead. But...if you have a good solution with flexible data management, you might not need a standard.

The number of companies using shared directories and Excels are much more than you can even imagine. My point is that "customers" are young people and they are NOT buying old school PLM.
