All birds do the same thing but in smaller number there is less mess.

Re: Persimmons

I was like that for a long time and then just set the camera to take RAW as well as JPEG and now it take both at the same shutter click and I review the JPEGs and if I find one I like then I open it in RAW.

There are several others here who have gone to RAW after I posted several of my pictures and mentioned it was shot in RAW.

Abe

Abraham Lincoln
— Brookville Daily Photo

Re: Persimmons

I never have much luck with my dwarf Jonathan Apple Tree but this year it is loaded and I noticed one branch is almost touching the ground with fruit. I should prop it up but the fruit is never good enough to eat. It is like something is missing, namely the sugar, I think. Your photo is much better looking than anything I could take of our tree.

It is hard to get the details to come out in the light and dark photos. I can do it if i shoot in RAW or if I use Photoshop to get the details back. But it is hard to just set the camera and take the picture unless I set the camera one notch darker. That keeps the light areas with their details and the dark areas are just a bit darker.

Re: Barn Spider -- Part 1

I have not had much luck finding spiders this year. I look almost every day. I do see webs of all kinds but never see the spiders. These are nice photographs, Marvin.

Re: Antlion (Glenurus gratus)

I have had some dragonflies that look similar but not the same.

Nice photography.

I set for several hours the past couple of days taking photos of baby chipmunks peeking out at me. They are not babies but in diapers.

Re: "Cow Killer" Velvet Ant (Dasymutilla occidentalis)

I don't think I had ever seen this one, Marvin. Nice macro.

I worked a long time the other day trying to get a nice macro of a Progressive Bee fly. I got some that are OK but not thrillers.

I have been dealing with rheumatoid arthritis in my hands. The chemotherapy drug doesn't stop the pain so my typing is limited.

Re: Tomato Hornworm -- Not!

I remember these. We used to pick them off tobacco when I was growing up. Sometimes farmers would offer a quarter to some kid if they would bite one into two pieces. I never saw any takers.

Re: Yellow Passionflower (Passiflora lutea)

I have never seen this one in real life. Thanks for the reply.

Abraham Lincoln
— Brookville Daily Photo

Re: Searcy County Courthouse

That could be a project you, and friends take on, making it beautiful. But the courthouse is not in an ideal location so it would have to be moved so benches, trees, sidewalks (it has no sidewalks) could be added. Maybe the powers that be think if they make it ugly enough the citizens will dig into their pocket books and finance a new court house.
