Birdie's response is pretty much the most positive that Oscar could possible hope for under the circumstances, particularly given that she has accurately deduced the fundamental nature of Oscar's existence. She gets him. She's a keeper.

I was hoping that it might be Cliff, but Oscar would recognize Cliff's voice, so it has to be someone else. But, there aren't all that many people in Podunk who know Oscar by name, so that narrows the list of suspects quite a bit.
