I have been WAITING for your thoughts on this b/c you know I love the old EPCOT, too.

First of all, in general, I agree with your cautiously optimistic attitude. I think the areas easily fall into the space/tech and water/earth/land categories. I actually really dig the whole Moana thing. I think it's b/c of the jumping fountains in Imagination that still delight me?! Ha!

I don't have the same amount of optimism for the World Celebration--seems like an undefined catch-all. And, I'm not sure I like/understand the new Spaceship Earth at all. The "power of storytelling to unite the human experience"? What does that mean?

And YES to all the up charge areas. Sigh. I guess we'll just have to be the poor folks who look at the top level with longing...

Oh, and I can't be mad at Mary Poppins. I'll take her any way I can get her.

Re: NEW: Toy Story 4 Full Trailer -But…Do We Need THIS Toy Story?

I thought the exact same thing! TS3 was so perfect, what could possibly be the new story we needed to see? Andy and Buzz separated again? Looking for a spork? Thinking about leaving Bonnie? Same old, same old. Prove us wrong, Pixar!

(I remember when Harry Potter's The Cursed Child came out, a ton of people said, "Does this have to be canon?" b/c they liked the way the original ended and wanted to keep that as their final memory. I hope this doesn't turn out that way!)

Re: REVIEW: Ralph Breaks The Internet…And A Lot of Other Stuff

After MY review, I'm sure Disney will be regretting letting me see it first! The message of the movie was...don't be annoying to your friends? And if your dream is to live in Grand Theft Auto, everyone should let you???

I think some adults will find the internet jokes funny but overall, kids might not get 75% of the jokes. And did it also feel like 2 movies--the lost game piece and the strange multi-Ralph monster?

I can't even write a coherent comment, that's how weird I thought the movie was! Asa saw it with me and when it was over he said, "I'm not sure if I liked that!" ;)

Re: 5 Book Series for Kids Who Love Harry Potter

I was just talking with another mom about this the other day--our 9yo not-very-into-reading kids were surprised that most of their friends have read all the HP books (and I was, too!). Anywhoo, I've got 2 suggestions: A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd is not as magical as Harry but more magical realism, a little girl moves back to her mom's hometown to discover every family in the town has their own magic (calling up the rain, making ice cream that gives you a good memory, etc.). It was really sweet and had great family/boy-girl interaction. I loved it. The other suggestion is 100 Cupboards by ND Wilson. It's super magical--like going thru a tiny cupboard (out of 100) that a little boy finds on the wall of his uncle's attic--and then enters a new world. It felt super Harry Potter (but so also, it's very own super creative world) and again, had great grown-ups and kids in it. Loved.

Re: 10 Books For Your Summer Reading

That Jane of Austin cover is just beautiful!! The 2nd book, Dominion is about race in the United States. It was incredibly interesting and eye-openining. The one line that stuck with me and I remember often when talking about diversity is this, "White people look at racism like a dip. They can take as much or as little as they want. Black people see racism like a marinade. It's in and out of everything." (not an exact quote!) As a white girl, it's hard for me to have conversations about race--or rather, it's easy to NOT have the conversation. I want to remember that race isn't a dip. It's who we are!

Re: Announcing Our March Book Club

PRAY is my word for the year and this is one of the books on my list. Maybe I read it as a kid--but after reading it, I couldn't tell if my memory was from the book or the movie. Anywhoo, I loved it and it made me pick up Little Lord Fauntelory (which I loved just as much) and download a few more FHB's books on my kindle!

a

Re: Prince Caspian by C.S. But I will say the scene when Lucy sees Aslan and the rest don't is one of my fave scenes in the whole series. She continues to stay close to him, looking only at him regardless of what everyone says or thinks. It's such a gorgeous picture of how closely we need to keep God's Word in front of us--literally a lamp to our feet. Even when others don't understand (and that's not necessarily non-Christians--could be other Christians who don't see why/what we feel we're called to do!) we need to stay close to Jesus' heels!

Yes, Nikabrick is a villain! *shiver* That whole scene with the werewolf and hag!

Another of my fave parts is the bulgy bear sucking his paws at the battle. For some reason that cracks me up.

OK. One more. The complete bittersweet heartbreak of realizing they are at Cair Paravel (the chessmen, the treasure chamber!) 1000's of years after they lived there is just the best!

:)

a

Re: Blur by Steven James | Book Review

I love Steven James. I don't think I've ever read a book faster!

I'm just so with you on Historical Fiction---I'm in the middle of reading a series by Jane Kirkpatrick, have you read her? SO GOOD.

Anywhoo, excited to find you and your blog! :)

a

Re: Anniversary Sale and a Big Thank You

I'm so glad you told this story! I love this--it's not just closing our eyes and blanking or vegging out. It's shutting down to focus on God and have him fill us, lead us or surprise us. I love the distinction. Sometimes I unplug, but don't plug into Him! Thanks for the wonderful reminder to see God and know Him more.

Re: RHAP Projects the Cast of Survivor Second Chance

I think to say that there are only 2 types of voters/watchers: casual and super-fan is wrong. My husband & parents watch Survivor faithfully since season 1 and would call themselves super-fans. But I'm the only one online, listening to podcasts, following people on twitter, etc. And I know they voted multiple times. So, I'd say for every super-fan-THAT-IS-ONLINE there are 3-4 super fans who don't get online but would to vote. Then, there are the legitimate casual fans who may watch if there's nothing else on their DVR.

I still think 10m is a lotta votes, but I'm hoping it's a legit number! Viva la Survivor!

Re: The Art of Resetting: Stop & Listen

"Now, instead of planting our solitude with our own dream blossoms, we choke the space with continuous music, chatter, and companionship to which we do not even listen.
