I feel this way about The People in the Trees, even though I thought it was a good novel. I can't imagine it ever being adapted in a way that wasn't icky, though.

YEEEEEEEES. It's an adorable comic about a girl and her unicorn best friend. Everyone keeps comparing it to Calvin and Hobbes, and while I can see it, the feel of it is also very different. Here's a quote from the introduction to the second collected edition that I hope will sell you:

"Vanity, the supposedly “feminine” personality flaw
usually assigned to antagonists and villains, is turned on its head.
Yes, Marigold is vain, but she is caring and attentive, she keeps her
promises, and though she reminds us all that every creature is basically

(Marigold Heavenly Nostrils is Phoebe's unicorn. She admires her own loveliness at every available opportunity, and at the same time she's loyal and kind and smart. She's the best.)

I'm currently reading Sarah Bakewell's How to Live and trying to decide whether I want to start a Madeleine L'Engle or a Joan Aiken for my fiction book. Over the weekend I also read the new Phoebe and her Unicorn comic and it was glorious.

I agree with Jemisin that it's besides the point, but also, one of my favourite things about Hamilton is that it examines it - and also the concept of a life well lived. THIS IS EXCITING NEWS. When you first mentioned it on Twitter and I saw we didn't have it at the library I went into my two biggish local bookshops, who are usually quite good at having ALL the things. When they both let me down, I just assumed it must not be findable here. I shall now pester them to get it for me, and just act as if getting books with the money for the week I already have in my pocket doesn't *really* count :P
