Hey Seshu, I don't get coached but I know I'm someone that would benefit from it highly. I have actually been having coffee with one of the Pastors at my church quite regularly since last October. Got him off Blogger and onto WordPress even but that's beside the point. Talking with him has been almost like coaching as it's really helped me along.

Coaching would feel like another expense but it might be what's needed to get lifted off the ground (so to say). There is often so many things one needs to do. The best thing for the community would be established photographers looking to better mentor. That's essentially where blogs come into play now as a well established photographer can have that one to many connection but put bright lights on someone they feel is up and coming.
I wasn't really surprised with the numbers in the survey.

If someone approaches you, ball is in your court. You have images they are interested in. Offer what you feel your image is worth and hold your own.

I will approach a company, person, ect if I want to do work for them for free according to beliefs and mission.

This has been one of the best products for me when editing my photography! I adore it. I mainly use Perfect Effects 3 and FocalPoint 2. I'm hoping for an update that allows us to use presets without the included borders. I know not all presets have borders included but I love some of them that do.

This is amazing. Friggen amazing. I wrote recently on my own blog about photographers needing to beware of debt. It was the day of the new iPad being announced. With all of these tech gadgets releasing at the same time, it's going to make people go deep in debt or be depressed. Actually it would result in both as the spending euphoria wears off.

I love that you talk about all of this. My D300 doesn't do video but oh friggen well at this point. What if I save up for 3 years like Zack and buy a sweet medium format digital with quad performing video 3d footage. That is the difference here too - planning this all out ( creating the rainbows and breeding the unicorn) instead of chasing.

Oh and on that note, I'm off to switch systems from Nikon to Canon and back ; )

Hey Traci,

It's not that it's terrible to upload or pin some of your own work. Pin some of your own work from time to time but what's happening is photographers are crazy and want everyone to see everything they've ever done. Pinterest is an interest graph and if you continually pin all o fyour own work is masturbating. Put up your 9 best images - become forced to edit your photography work.
Do photographers need to upload their own work on this curation site just because they can? There must be some underlying fear that no one will pin their work if they dont.

Trey this is where I would have to agree. I think I've seen you say something like you're going to share 50% your own work and 50% others. Looking at your profile on Pinterest it's all you.

I posted on my blog today about this and your influence is what makes your activity there so dangerous. I don't seriously care if you want to upload 1000 images overnight there but think about those early people that did opt to follow you.

My only issue is with the last item. Share your photos til your hearts content. Sure not all go in your portfolio or you might not upload to 500px, but share somewhere. Everyone is so scared they aren't as great as the next person and leave their photos on drives never to be seen.

Yea, share the images that help build your brand / image and not junk. More signal and less noise but I think more than 1 image a week can easily be achieved. The signal can still stay strong.

Well this gives me a better reason to try Buffer now. I kind of gave up on the applications like this because I would just tweet whenever I felt it. Clearly not the best way to build audience as even the audience of my little blog is worldwide. I did enjoy time.ly I think it was but more people talked about Buffer. Such interest in it tells me something ;)

Love the idea behind PressTrends and don't get much of the backlash I saw on the WooBlog. I see it invaluable for theme companies.

I talk about instagram, mobile photography, and the generative fact that everyone is a photographer now. It doesn't make everyone a better photographer but it makes everyone a photographer. Look at Mike Kus for example, prominent designer but because of his instagram photos, he gets asked by Burberry to shoot their instagram feed for the day of their show?

I've thought for the last year that if major camera manufacturers don't do something with sharing soon (and fast) they are going to miss the boat. It's not about iso, megapixels, crop formats, or anything else boring to do with cameras. It's about the ability to easily share your snaps. Who cares if you're the best photographer in the world using a D900xVIE IDT Rebel if you don't share your photos. Many people are proving, everyday, that they can create more compelling photos than a lot of photographers with their expensive pro gear and pro editing software.

The darkroom is in your hands now.
