I agree with the spokesperson for One Orlando to an extent. That being that private individuals just living their lives should not be outed by others. However, the Governor is NOT a private individual, and especially given that she uses condescension towards LGBT people as a campaign prop, she should be outed if she's LGBT. Sorry, but if she's going to claim that she's against something she participates in, then it is an issue for the public to be able to make a judgement. If she were fighting against legalizing gambling, but heading to a casino every weekend, wouldn't we expect the press and others to make that known? Sorry, I see no difference.

You're right Allen. We need to come to understand that no amount of facts or logic is going to change a single mind. In fact, I think it hardens their resolve to stick by the guy. It's amazing. Out ONLY strategy is to simply out-vote these people. We will not convince them of the need for someone competent. We simply have to show up and vote him and those who continue to support him out of office.

I think you hit the nail on the head with both reasons. I agree, she likely has a pre-nup to deal with. Maybe the amount she gets goes up over time, so she's sticking it out. While Trump has never shied away from the lights, being POTUS is a whole other thing, and it puts her right in there too. And you can bank on the fact that Trump probably didn't tell her he was running (until he needed her to show up at the announcement) let alone ask her about the possibility. It's just not in him to give a crap about what anyone else (even family) thinks about things.

So she did get thrown into something she likely never bargained for (being FLOTUS), but like Allen notes, she was the "other woman" at some point, so she can't be surprised to find out there was another "other woman (or women)" that came after her.

I want to comment specifically on this point, " high-quality candidates are running in districts that previously had a
hard time attracting people to spend time on what seemed like a hopeless
cause." It is never a hopeless cause. Even if a Democratic goes in it knowing they are likely to loose, if they can apply pressure, it helps in other districts.

Here's how. If an incumbent is running unopposed or barely opposed, they still raise money (because they are an incumbent, they can raise a lot of money), most of which they won't need. They are free to "redistribute" those contributions to other party candidates. So if we mount a reasonable opposition to every Republican, then even those in districts they are likely to retain, still have to spend money and resources in their own district, and can't send the money to Republicans in very contested races. I want us to win every seat, but recognizing we likely won't, it helps in those we can win, just by running a good candidate in districts we likely won't win. On top of that, as the arrogance of the Republicans grows, they they tend to stumble over their tongues and say stupid stuff right before an election...if there's someone already running with a team in place, it sure increases the odds of a win.

Terrorist - a person who terrorizes or frightens others. One of the other definitions adds, "usually a member of a group" (could that evangelicalism, or Christianity even). Doesn't say anything about skin color, religious affiliation, ancestry. Just says someone who terrorizes others. I guess this means those people in Austin who were feeling terrorized should be embarrassed now to know they weren't actually being terrorized.

The law doesn't prevent Tony from saying anything he wants from the pulpit. It just says that if the church wants to give political speeches from that pulpit, they have to pay taxes like everyone else.

I'm not dissing the Benedictines, but their religious order was, originally, one of cloistering. This was the idea the author was pushing, that Christians create their own community/communities where Christians would sequester themselves and abstain from contact with the outside world.

Obviously, there are some religious groups here in the U.S. already who do this is a greater or lesser extent, but his concept appeared to kind of total isolation. I'd buy the bus tickets for a number of the fundamentalists I know, if they ever create such a place.

First, you seem to assume I either wrote the article or am in total agreement with the author.

My point is that fundamentalist/conservative Christians in particular cherry pick. If they want to do something not specifically prohibited in the Bible, they use old, "it's not in the Bible, so it's OK." But they will claim other things, like gay marriage, are not OK, because the Bible doesn't specifically approve of them.

I actually think we're likely in general agreement, but haven't expressed ourselves very clearly.

I think Angel...you need to read the article before spouting off. The Commander is being left in place until 12:01 PM on inauguration day. Does that particular time have any significance to your apparently backed up brain? That will be when Obama is no longer President, and Trump is. Trump's team (read the article), has informed the Commander that the minute Trump becomes President, he is relieved of duty.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but you have to step back and look at this. First, it is just a boneheaded move. You don't relieve a commanding officer right in the middle of a mission unless he is totally screwing up the mission during the execution.

Second, why would the President Elect give a damn about who commands the DC National Guard? Yes, he's the Commander in Chief, but is he worrying about crap like this?

So, in the end, there has to be some reason to do this, I can't think of any reason that doesn't involve some nefarious purpose. I think this is very ominous.

The people who know would disagree with you. I stand up for, and work for the poor and down trodden. I seek to shine a light in the world, and not hate anyone. But It is hard to watch others claim to be Christian, who do hate, and actually justify that by claiming it's the Christian thing to do. Very disappointing. One of the best examples being the example here of the "good Christians" using their religion to justify being cheap and gipping a hardworking wait person. Would you call them "loving Christians," Gavin?
