I think it's wrong to assume the delay was harmless -- and wrong to assume that the fans believed it was too. Pitchers are creatures of habit and rely very much on routine and timing.

Cole Hamels, who has fought plenty of mental battles with himself since the start of the '09 season, was pitching his best game since the '08 World Series. He was on the verge of his first complete game and first shutout of the season. He was clearly flustered by the delay and gave up back-to-back doubles to the first two hitters in the 9th, lost his shutout, and was pulled from the game.

The person who ran on the field had an impact on the game, whether you'd care to admit it or not -- as a side note, this brilliant gentleman was later charged with possession because he had marijuana on him when he ran onto the field.

It's also been suggested that this fan actually ran onto the field because he wanted to be zapped by the taser.

Even if it's true that people truly wanted this to happen, it's wrong to lump all the fans into the same group. These stories were all over the local news in Philadelphia and nearly every single fan interviewed said it was wrong to use a taser on a fan.

My instinctual response was "Play professional hockey" but, after thinking about it, I knew I wouldn't really want to do that.

My family is the most important thing to me and playing hockey would mean long road trips and I'd miss a lot of important moments at home. As much as I love hockey, I wouldn't dream of giving those things up.

It's been a lifelong dream of mine open up a restaurant. I worked as a cook for a while and in the kitchen of a restaurant for even longer. When I was in college, I even designed my own menu and came up with all the recipes. I even started hosting lavish dinner parties where people would pay $20 a head just to come (the cost was to cover the food, not to turn a profit.) After college, this event was resurrected as/morphed into the Brown Bag Club, the blind wine tasting parties we used to do.

I know that I would be working 75-80 hour work weeks again and would probably miss putting my kids to bed at night but I'd probably be able to spend more time with them during the mornings and see Carrie even more. In addition, I'd get to be creative, more active, and do something I've always loved.

I love that the guy who has given up possessions is shown in a picture surrounded by his possessions, the man who gives up money is fed by his friends who paid for the food.

Screw you society, but do you mind if I dumpster dive your butter and take food from your gardens? Thanks.

I'm right there with you for the most part. However, I never went back to making my profile public. I worried about what you're saying about blocking and the inability to select who is allowed to follow you.

There are times I've wished my profile was public and was able to have some public people see what I'm writing but those moments are fleeting. I'd rather lose that ability but maintain control over my account.

I think blogs are more of a public forum. A lot of the public figures I follow that I want to write to also have blogs. So, I think it's just as easy to leave a comment on their blog.
