Neither is without minor irritations but I think we've got them to the point where they can be left to run without too much intervention. Both are still costly though (as is the 1.6 variant with a dongle).

Do the Krankenpixies allow you the use of your handi?

Re: Paulaner

I'll ask around to see if we can get you some Watneys Red Barrel (and it's a good job I still speak enough German to do the code :-))

Re: Rev Richard Boys

Sorry for the delay John, the gizmoid that shouts when I have a comment appears to have gone on strike. I must admit that my interest in Richard Boys is entirely second-hand. I posted some shots of Loose churchyard a while ago and someone commented that they'd like a shot of his grave. It may be that they will come back and contact you regarding that photo. I must admit that I'm fascinated at a different level - it's the whole nature of how we use these tools to make links and connections. Many thanks for calling by and commenting and creating another link.

Re: RIP older browsers, Google ain't playing any more...

Industry standard are fun - everyone should have their own! I really like this one too but it's a "throwaway" :-) It's from the kitchen door looking along the garden path - the sedum and the plants around it beaten down by the rain; it just worked for me

Re: Thank goodness for that!

Sorry Kath - only just seen this comment. Yes, absolutely - lots of teachers know so little about the industry in which they work that it's lamentable. Few seem to know much about university entry or what it entails. I was told the other day that no university allows any student entry without three "good" A levels. It's not just the OU who do but most do for mature students yet this person, in a position of influence, was ignorant and displaying that ignorance proudly.

Re: Carole Ann

But not in my world Mornev :-)

Re: Meet the new boss...........

Of course I remember Old Oetting - we went a couple of times (or I did at least - I think I went on my own first time and met Rudi). The Historical Oktoberfest sounds charming and I'm not at all surprised that the music of The Who is banned in Bayern :-)

Re: Causing......

I agree - it makes no sense at all does it?

Re: Here again

I'll mail PVR and ask - he'll be home now (as will Paul). I want to know about these things and if person X or Y is the expert I have to try to accommodate their "eccentric" delivery skills.

On to other stuff (that you've simply missed :-)). I agree with point 4 and I think that this accentuates any weaknesses a presenter might have. It felt very intimate; rather like a very small group session and I think that places more on the shoulders of the participants. Has we been in a room with that many folk we might have been able to "hide" but I felt that I wanted/needed to be there for every word/slide. This isn't often the case when f2f (especially if I'm the presenter...). I think we can get round point 6 by having some sort of "foyer" for use during changeovers and comfort stops.

Mebbe you should invite Martin to catch up on this discussion?

Re: OU Conference - a spot o' reflection

You know I agree with your point 1 because we discussed it during the conference. I think it must be a great deal harder to present in this way though. When we're standing on our hind-legs in front of a carefully selected audience we can feel the room and adjust our pace and delivery; can't see where that feedback loop might be when talking to a screen.

Re: Goodreads?

Can't complain that all it does is sit and look at you ;-)

Re: Goodreads?

And now it seems that the biggest output is a daily email telling me when you've turned a page in whichever book it decides you are currently reading :-) I've now killed the daily option

Re: Goodreads?

I joined it last week - following your request for suggestions and after going and buying a couple of the books :-) I had a quick furtle around the site but as you say it just seems to sit there doing nothing.
