Apenas uma pequena correcção.
A NDrive não faz mapas, faz software de navegação para GPS. Usa a cartografia(vulgo, mapas) da InfoPortugal(entre outras empresas).

Wrong. You can provide a settings_(development, testing, production or whatever).py that includes settings.py, override the settings you want and run ./manage.py --settings=settings_xxx and you are ready to go. Instead you're doing the opposite, you're using settings-prod.py for production, you should use the settings.py with debug=False.

What is wrong with that? Although is a good practice, because you can(and should) use MEDIA_URL in the templates(that's the reason that exists), is not required, You should use your webserver to serving static and media files.

Wrong. You can and should use templates at app-level: your_app/templates/your_app/template_name.html
