Thank you, Justathought. I agree completely. The Arapahoe County Sherrif's Department told people for years that if they are convicted of a felony they cannot vote ever again, denying countless people who are "off paper" their right to vote. I heard it many times while registering voters. Not only that, I knew of 3 incidents where swastikas were painted on people's cars or public property, yet I was told "It's never happened here" by Arapahoe County Sheriff deputies. Last, I knocked on a door during the first Obama campaign where a uniformed Arapahoe County Sheriff's Deputy told me his wife would not be voting for that "damned n****r" and to get off his porch. This is the kind of culture that was nourished under decades of Republicans in charge there. I've met good employees there and some really terrible and misguided ones. The Sheriff's office needed to be swept clean of decades of this kind of bigotry, and now it will be.

Frank, first, thank you for your service. I have known Jared Polis since he was on the State Board of Education. He is one of the most honorable, kind, generous, thoughtful people I have ever known, and he has also served his country honorably as a Congressman. I am sad that you have believed the smears against him. You have missed an opportunity to know a truly great man.

I read your follow up and my feelings remain the same. You are starting a witch-hunt against a woman for not knowing what a man did. When I worked in a suicide hotline/crisis center for three years, I saw it all the time. A man is accused of molesting his children, and the cops and state authorities go after the mother for "not knowing" about it.

Remember the whole Abu Graib and Guantanamo abuse scandal? Legions of men were involved in those abuses and Lynddie Englad was prosecuted (not Rumsfeld or any of the others) and Janis Karpinski was demoted. I could list a thousand other situations where this has happened in history, but I do not care to list them here. It is common knowledge in academia that this pattern has existed consistently for hundreds of years, and across cultures. It is a function of patriarchy.

More of the same here. A man is a monster, a woman gets thrown under the bus. When will it end, Dave? When will men finally, boldly take on men who abuse or harrass women and children?

Not only that, but saying you have been a victim in your life is important in any other context (and I do not wish to minimalize your pain), but saying it here is insensitive. You, nor I -- nor anyone else, can speak for the victims in this situation. Only they can.

I like the Sentinel and I like your reporting, but I think you need to take a sensitivity course on oppression and abuse.

Anyone who has studied social justice and oppression knows it is commonplace in our culture for this scenario: man is accused of something illegal or heinous, and a woman takes the fall / is thrown under the bus for it. It happens all the time. Your last line is more of the same, and is exactly why many women avoid reporting in the first place. Rather than focus on the atrocious behavior of Rep. Lebsock, you choose to focus on the woman Speaker who you say should have known everything we know now, but 16 months ago. No one outside of the victims and Speaker Duran knows what she knew 16 months ago, and in time, that will be investigated. For now, the focus should be on the harrassment and assault allegations again Representative Lebsock, and the many victims who have suffered from them. Do not distract from the real issues here by looking for a female scapegoat for his crimes.

Bannon is too smart/evil to think a "confidential" conversation with a liberal journalist would not be leaked to the world. Anyone who has been in politics for 5 minutes knows the best way to get media time is to say, "Between you and I...". This could be nothing more than a great distraction from something even bigger. Or, by appearing that he might wage war against Trump, Bannon thinks he and his fake news site willl gain legitimacy. I still think he and Trump are in cahoots. They are both sociopaths.

As a Jew, your article leaves me out of the conversation entirely. I am white, and I am every bit a potential victim of the Nazis and Neo-Nazis as you are. So are gay people, transexuals, gypsies, academics, people with disabilities, etc. I have been a strong ally to people of color for 30 years. This conversation needs to be broader than it is here and not made into simply one of black and white. We need to talk about defending ourselves against hate in all its forms and from all directions. Pointing the finger at each other will never do any good.

The harsh reviews make me wonder if other saw the same movie I did. It is very subtle, which makes it all the more genius. My family and I loved it, and we give it a 10. So refreshing to laugh all the way through a movie and not see any murdered, or a stupid chase scene. I can't wait to see this movie again.
