However, I still think the Fluvax offers significant benefits even if the vaccines we get each year are viruses found 6-12 months or so ago in US. The antigenic drift would have caused some minor differences in the virus and the circulating viruses maybe antigenically different from the virus. The same situation exists in Australia too.
There are reports in literature that suggest that routine annual vaccination could give an added benefit beyond that of the antigen serotypes used in the vaccines. Anyway, I don't think we'd ever be in a position to isolate our own virus serotypes and selectively make vaccine! Well, not until you return and start doing it. :-)

Re: http://blog.niyaf.com/post/5365347659

@Alifutha please feel free to add to my answer. BUT it is not exclusive to that. Many normal kids have it too. Pica in itself is therefore not to be used as a marker of developmental disorders. Such disorders would have more prominent other features.
The length of persistence of behavioral symptoms depend on the nature, effectiveness and persistence of behavior change tactics used to correct the symptom in addition to the type of disorder and other factors particular to the condition.
If there are other behavioral patterns in your child that concerns you, then it is very important to get child evaluated by a doctor. If no such concerns exist then it is quite unlikely that there is a problem. If not sure; consult.

Re: http://niyaf.com/post/2525495519

:-)

Re: http://ask.niyaf.com/post/2625142208

My pleasure.
Best wishes.

Re: http://ask.niyaf.com/post/2525114251

The "GOD is watching" would be done asap. I don't think the appointment system is manipulated by the reception staff though. I trust them. If they wanted to have one of their own shown to me I would be making some arrangements for them outside of the usual clinic timings.
About keeping a team working with me: I did have a pediatrician working with me earlier. That didn't help as much either.
Will keep working on a solution.

Re: http://ask.niyaf.com/post/2569215795

As a first consultation a GP would be sufficient. And he/she would be able to suggest the necessary investigations. Following the tests it would be more suitable to consult a pediatrician.

Re: http://ask.niyaf.com/post/2525114251

I guess I should have included a bit more to that answer. Thank you Ahmed for highlighting that.

The appointments for IGMH and Eve clinic are issued by IGMH and Eve respectively. I do not give away clinic appointments or IGMH appointments myself. I cannot therefore give a consultation time when one is requested on the website. Many apologies for that.

To get an appointment please follow the processes in place at IGMH (telephone and queue depending on type of OPD) or Eve Clinic (telephone appointments only).

If I were to give away appointments or special opportunities to consult via this or any other site I would be creating a very difficult precedent that will make getting an appointment by the normal routes a lot more difficult. I am aware that many people have difficulties as it is.

Once again; we are looking at ways to best address the situation. If you have any specific ideas please do share.

Re: NIYAF.COM

I think the best thing we can do to help her eat better and aim weight would be to assess and change meal composition, feeding habits and address any medical causes that maybe affecting the situation (although this is uncommon).
It is important that we individualize this.
I would suggest that you seek an appointment with a pediatrician to discuss these.
I am away on holidays until 2nd week of January.

Re: NIYAF.COM - About

Samuel, it is because right now I can't match the demand for appointments with opportinities. I believe there are severeal reasons. Some of the more obvious ones are (1)There aren't enough Pediatricians around (2)Pediatric OPD at IGMH is temporarily suspended because of staff shortage (3)I cannot increase the number of appointments on offer because I am already seeing the maximum number of cases that I can.
Registered cases have a slight advantage over others but when the slots ARE full, that wouldn't help either.
I would like to invite everyone to give in their suggestions on a better appointment system. One that would work, not just make things easier for that particular person.
If my practice was a Retainer practice then registered patients would have little or no difficulty in getting appointment but everyone else, then, would have absolutely no chance at all.

Re: http://photography.niyaf.com/post/474289068

Baywatch on Crab island

Re: http://niyaf.com/post/474316318

:-)

Re: NIYAF.COM - About

Thank you.

Re: NIYAF'S PHOTOGRAPHY — Eyes

a small rakis bondu

Re: NIYAF.COM - A social security scheme being launched in Maldives.

Sure. There are no buildings around so the approach is straight forward. The last time I got back to Male' from abroad the flight did have a bit of trouble landing because of strong gusts pushing the plane off the runway on approach. We landed on second attempt! Scary few seconds.
It has been a very safe airport until now and hopefully will remain so.

Re: NIYAF.COM : online office

Heard some terrible reviews about iPhone 3GS camera, but it does Ok for a simple phone camera!

Re: NIYAF.COM : online office

Thanks.

Re: NIYAF.COM : online office

Chandhi Chowk is a real place.
