Properly embracing Social Media means that a company becomes more transparent and open through that channel - and this is worthless, if not a waste of time, if the company is not transparent and open through every other toch point. Chris, I don't think your sugestion goes far enough; everyone should be heedful of the new culture being forced on us through social media, and adapt to work with it.

Re: No Locks No Gates

Good thoughts to start the week on a positive note. You can't massage where in someone else's twitter stream you appear, though, so I'm not sure how useful knowing that would be.
Inga, does anyone subscribe to twitter by RSS??

Re: PRBreakfastClub Social Media Expert Challenge

As number of followers is only one of the targets, this looks like it could be quite a tough one. Site traffic- do you have to build a new site for that?
Will think about it.

Re: lorem Ipsum

Count me in! The new rules do not have anything to say on this kind of activity.

Re: How Do We Kill Birds

Chris, the best option in my opinion is giving your time pro-bono in exchange for a large purchase. Or maybe with the sale of every 1,000 books (from now on) you give an hour of your time to a cause chosen by your followers and readers?
Cool idea!

Re: Can Radian6 be used to prevent suicides and murders?

David - my reply (below or somewhere) is a bit negative but if there are enough people in enough places willing to work with it it might just fly - let me know if you need a UK link...

Re: Can Radian6 be used to prevent suicides and murders?

Great idea, but this will need funding - and from who? The system would "catch" incidents from anywhere on the English-speaking internet, and therefore could not be funded out of a single police or law enforcement budget. If you set to region, it goes by IP address - so anybody posting in the UK for example to a *.wordpress.com blog would only be picked up by a US search -and the FBI don't yet have jurisdiction here. This is a really nice idea, but it will need a not-for-profit to set up, run, and notify the relevant authorities. In other words, it will be lots of work.

Re: Yahoo embracing Twitter? (Scripting News)

Given that Yahoo have all the other content, they could do well by just adding a "tweet this" button, which shortens the url and allows the user to add their own text. This would certainly be something that Seesmic et al cannot do. However, this is already becoming a common feature of blogs, so Yahoo would have to find a way of doing it that was unique.

Re: The Big Push

Cool, thanks Nancy. The Three S’s That Must Be Overcome

Excellent post. I think twitter, facebook, etc are much the same way as any other channel of communications - just that, a channel. No one in a corporation would pick up a phone and tell people outside the corporation confidential information; in the same way, employees must know what they can and cannot say on twitter - and that must be clearly defined by the corporation.

Re: The Big Push

When does trust Agents get released in the UK?
