A couple of quick points. I've just unboxed and booted up my review unit. Windows 7 boot up took about 14 minutes after setting everything up. I did not need to hook up a keyboard to choose Windows or Android on the initial boot sequence. The buttons worked fine. I would say after downloading a round of Windows update and rebooting, the entire Windows experience lasted about 30 minutes, which is no different than I see on any Windows machine.

I guess technically you're correct. I probably should have said first Windows slate that tries to knock of the iPad or something similar like that. But unless you've been sleeping or hibernating in my coal mine, I would have assumed that most folks looking at this device given the form factor, price point, etc... would be thinking of this device as an different kind of canary than the slates we saw (and still see) from the likes of Motion, Tablet Kiosk, etc... The makers of these Windows slates certainly are seeing them that way.

OneNote on that HP Slate 500 could be killer. I'm waiting to see how well the Inking does though before I get too excited.

The best Windows Laptop I've ever owned is a MacBook Pro 13 using bootcamp to run Windows.

Good to hear from an Android user on this as I don't use Android. Waiting for the carriers is another issue entirely as I see it. But the time lag once released is another issue as you point out.

There's no comparison on a couple of levels. Inking in OneNote on a Windows Tablet PC is far superior to any other experience including Evernote on a Windows Tablet PC. Inking on an iPad is not going to outdo that regardless of how talented the developers are. That said, Noteshelf and Penultimate have come the closest as long as you're just looking to lay down some ink on a page.

Thanks for all the advice. Again, my biggest beef is not making it readily knowable that if you use HDMI cables in any part of your chain that you can't take advantage of the full features.

Prior to setting things up with HDMI I had everything configured with composite not component cables.

In order to get any video via Slingbox I have to use the HD Pro's built in tuner. I can't use the tuner on my Cable/DVR box.

What you say makes sense to me, but the Slingmedia tech I spoke with yesterday says that HDMI anywhere in the chain can muck things up. That's what has me frustrated. If you're correct than this guy gave out bad info.
