I'll add that intuition is also what separates good designers from great designers. A good designer will study and learn a lot of the elements of what makes great design; typography, spacing, color, etc. and apply them in a conscious effort producing something good. It's my belief, that much of these skills come naturally to great designers. It's why you'll see great designers without any formal schooling outshine others with advanced degrees. Jazz is a great example, intuition is critical.

Re: Hugo Giraudel - Home

I agree. This in my experience is what I was taught in design school. I'm not entirely sure if this is a good metaphor or not but I always think of the great actors that take on very different roles and just nail them perfectly. I'd be happy if I could look back at my work and see variety and not just one certain style executed every time.

Re: Moving+to+San+Francisco

Best of luck to you on the west coast. I believe one of the fundamental problems that has led us to where we are at today is our addiction to credit. Too many of us are spending money that we don't have, your plan would only perpetuate this problem.

The other problem with this idea is the people that your plan claims will be eligible for the credit can't really afford the purchase. One of the reasons they are driving cars that are 10 years old and worth less than $5k is because that is simply all they can afford.

Re: On #wemedia

Let me first state that I'm not anti-capitalism, I think the system works and this has been proven, but the problem lies in the execution. There is a reason why our economy is currently in a meltdown and that is because of greed. Capitalism's biggest weakness has always been that in most cases profit trumps people, the case of Bechtel's water wars in Bolivia is a great example.

Re: Toluu launches Tagging!

Congratulations Caleb! I think alot of interactive designers ran to flash to attain this "creative freedom" but now I find it interesting to see how flash design has really changed in the past few years, the aesthetic is changing almost like the designers are creating artificial constraints for themselves, you can see this in alot of the flash sites that are coming out now.

Re: Your watercooler was never like this

I think now that we all have some experience onTwitter and have figured out how it fits into our online activity it is definitely playing a bigger role in our lives.

What has me excited about this service, even in spite of all it's quirks, is that it's really what we have been talking about along now and that is "rss as email"

Re: Brian Breslin dot com version X

Very cool.
