We just delete every comment from these linkbuilders. SPAM city! Our comment policies are ignored by these guys, so their posts are treated with the same respect --> into the garbage!

I tried an import on a self-hosted wordpress blog, and it seems to have imported some comments. That said, we've got thousands of comments and they have not all been imported, yet when I click the ADVANCED OPTIONS tab, it says the import is complete.

Any thoughts? Any help?

BTW - Thanks for the tips on updating my Disqus profile. I just did. I'm actually trying to install the plugin on our wordpress blog, but it is not properly importing all of my comments. VERY frustrating!

When I export my wordpress comments and try and import them via import.discus.com OR when I try and import the comments directly through my wordpress blog, it fails to find the bulk of the comments. The comments are there when I uninstall Disqus, but I can't for the life of me, get them to import. We're talking about thousands of comments, and only a few dozen are imported.

Any help would be appreciated.

It definitely hasn't been an instant issue. I've contacted tech support and posted on their forums. Hopefully we'll get some kind of resolution!

I'm actually surprised to learn that they didn't have a presence in the Arabic marketplace already. It seems a bit shortsighted for a company as old as grandpa Yahoo to ignore such a large segment of the global population.

It definitely seems like there is a new social network popping up everyday. Between Ning and every other open source platform, social networks are a dime a dozen. What stand out are the niche communities with real participation . . .

That said, many people close their networks to visitors, so there is no way to see if there is any action happening. If you can't tell, then the odds of jumping in and getting involved are slim, especially given the sheer number of networks out there.

We're managing to do very well, I believe, because we have made our network as transparent as possible to all who stop by.

I'm with Carol 100% on her thoughts about how we'll be talking about social media in terms of how it relates to real estate. Frankly, we should constantly be teaching others how to effectively use different social media. Most people don't have a clue and spend their time spamming, advertising, or spinning their wheels when they should simply be connecting and building relationships.

BTW -- the scary thing is that most people will NEVER read their paperwork, nor will their agent. These banks will keep pulling this crap for a long time to come, and unfortunately, a lot or people are going to get burned.

I definitely think Twitter is killing blog comments. While I certainly see a fair amount of retweets to our blog posts, I've seen an absolute decline in comments over the past months. Those people I've asked have said it is just easier to ReTweet than it is to put an ounce of effort in some thoughtful comments. While there are certainly people still commenting, I think that people seem to find it easier to share a post, rather than to comment.
