This is pointless scaremongering and in some places deliberately misleading. I'll go from the start.

1. Porn. Obviously, and this can be blocked easily.

2. Video chat.

Why did you give your child a webcam and/or a laptop with one? Disable it if you can't remove it. The vast majority of users on these sites are normal people. This 'type of site' is not horrific at all, but there may be unsavoury people at the fringes. Educate your kids, and keep computer / cam use to public spaces and out of bedrooms

3. Cyberbullying. Formspring is not a site that promotes cyberbullying any more than a school is a place that promotes bullying. This is literally just a contact method, no less or more offensive than text, email, phone calls or actually speaking to someone.

4. Pro-Anorexia. This is legit scary and is one of the few things that actually has cause to be on this list.

5. Miss Bimbo. Fair enough, that's pretty bad. Again, this is a site and not a 'type' of site.

6. "addicting" (sic) games. Again, be a decent parent and set your kids game time appropriately. It should not be horrifying to any parent that their child likes video games, and if it is, then that person is woefully unprepared for parenthood.

7. Violent games. For starters, this is supposed to be about video games but you're quoting AACAP about exposure to actual violence. Secondarily, you don't reference sources for it. This should actually be a warning all of its own, "dont trust sites that don't reference their quotes". There are no peer-reviewed studies that suggest violent video games produce real life violence. There's a lot of research into the different reactions people have to media and real life events and unsurprisingly enough, they're very different. This isn't going to screw up your kids. Be aware of what's out there and police what you let your kids play the same way you would TV or movies, like a sensible parent.

8. Facebook is not a type of site. Again, vast majority normal use, with a rare potential for scary that should be educated against.

9. Hate Group Sites. Actual hate group sites, like the KKK and other such organisations are terrifying. What you're describing, again, is a tiny percentage of valid use.

10. Youtube. Aside from also not being a 'type of site', it's unsurprising that there is no reference to these fake statistics being quoted. Parents do need to tell children not to just do anything they see on tv, movies or the internet, that's obvious.

Part of me wants to believe that this isn't scaremongering to sell internet filtering software, but realistically, this list is mostly tripe. It was prepared 10 minutes before deadline and most of it barely makes sense. If I were running this blog, I'd remove this, because the sheer level of ignorance and hypocrisy in the list itself actually lowers the tone of your site. The way it's written makes it sound like the author has never actually used the Internet, and is describing it from second hand information they saw on Fox News.

relative popularity makes it count even more - they've taken their competitors trademark, used it and appropriated it. they also used the name IPhone and IOS without owning them but Cisco were nice enough to let it go. if Apple can sue the maker of StatsPod for making a small pod device that collects gaming statistics, then they sure as hell deserve to be sued back.

your argument presents a contradiction in terms. on one hand it's offensive that you can tailor anything towards girls by making it girly (eg, pink, princess themed, etc) even if it were sufficiently complex, but on the other hand you think that the non-gender specific things like a generic bucket of bricks or a star wars ship aren't good enough either because they're not targeted towards females, so it's not good enough that girls can just play with them. because of .. the people buying toys being ignorant? your problem then, isn't with Lego, it's with people who'd refuse to buy it for girls.

i don't think anyone -needs- to be kept out of regular lego but you sell to your market. i dont think the presence or lack thereof of female minifigs is going to make a dramatic market shift towards wanting to build things. there's a reason that building block type toys are aimed at young boys - it's the demographic that most wants them. no-one complains that hair straighteners are marketed at women because women are generally the ones using them.

regardless of my own feelings on the matter, all i'm actually saying is that finding an abortion clinic is not the same as finding the nearest subway so you can Eat Fresh. realistically, it's not the end of the world if you have to tell siri to google it, or type it yourself. you'll notice google ads tend to take a 'safe' view of things and if there's too much controversial material in email or on a page, default to showing no ads. this is probably just either a program anomaly, unpopulated data, or playing it safe.

the people are showing the government and the corporations that they wont take this level of disregard anymore. they have a large voice, and you can't just screw people over anymore. billions of dollars in bailouts and none of it makes its way to the fired employees, then posting record profits while people die of infected teeth and other preventable ailments because they have no health insurance?

it's not the job of the person wronged to know the justice system well enough to make things right. and what do you do if you're wronged by the government? you protest.
