I stumbled onto this very valuable article about how to increase exposure for your name or FB in the right way. What I cannot seem to figure out is how to make sure that when I share a photo from my FB page (for instance, https://www.facebook.com/St... is there a way I can control whether people remove my page name when they share my photo on their timeline? I notice that when you share posts, FB gives you the option of removing the name of the original source making it seem as if that photo that you (or I) originally posted was in fact originally posted by whomever is sharing.

Does that make sense?

So in other words, if I posted a photo on the above mentioned FB page and others subsequently share it, is there a way the name of my page as the source of that photo remain all the way through several shares? You indicated in your article above that if something like a photo went viral, it'd be great free exposure to the person who posted it but that's assuming the name of the original person who posted it remains visible all the way through the subsequent shares.

Mari, I love the tip you gave recently about adding your blog posts to Facebook notes. And I understand that Facebook is searchable by Google so gives good content. My concern is that means adding duplicate content to both your blog and on Facebook. Google doesn't like duplicate content like that. What are your thoughts?

An article I wrote and posted in June is today at 901,000 Facebook shares. Is this a record? as the examples you gave in your article of high share numbers were vastly smaller than this.

Hi Mari.

I am getting better at this. The cool thing about your article is that your principles easily can be adapted to other Social Networks.

Which I was better to take pics, but I know that is not one of my strengths. So I utilize some of the great photo services available online.  

I have become much better also testing which content works best for me and my audience.

I like the way that facebook is evolving, allowing people to comment without liking is a good way to get people communicating without having to commit to Liking something. Images and videos that are funny, shocking, engaging always have the potential to go viral and facebook makes this easy.

The best way to get more shares is always to be witty and funny!  The basic rules of viral content applies: post something that will create an emotion in people, an emotion strong enough to make them share!

Yes true... but not always witty and funny. Making people cry or go awwww works well too!! Plus, often people tire of witty/funny/sad/emotional posts and seek helpful business tools and tips as well. It's important to find a balance.

Thanks for the great insights, Mari.  The fact that pictures get the most play has certainly gotten around.  It seems like half of what I get is a quote placed within a picture.  While I like the idea, I'm already getting tired of seeing it all day long.  Both the quotes and the pictures are becoming less special, in my mind anyway.  I'm wondering how long this will go on!

Lol I hear you Jennifer -- these quotes within images seem to be a trend over the past few months... and will likely peter out at some point and be replaced with a new "thing!" I think it's important to study what appears to be working well, then just as soon as you feel something is adding to the "noise," come up with your own unique angles for being different and memorable. ;)
