edwin may not know it all and I may not agree with everything he says but at least he is putting out ideas that are open for discussion and debate. Discussion and debate are how things get done in the civilized world. That is something our politicians need to be reminded of.

There is a lot of truth in what you say but like I said the government needs to work in tandem with the insurance companies. The insurance companies need to understand the alternative to NOT co operating just like the car insurance companies were. As for any hint of McCarthism...it needs to be stamped out fast and hard with no survivors. And like you I think those that argue the president was NOT born in this country need to give it a rest

You want a solution to the health care problem...our governmnet needs to work in tandem with the health care companies to develope a program like they did with auto insurance. Ala carte plans. You buy only the coverage you want. If you're young and feel no need for hospitalzation insurance then you buy a basic plan that just covers doctors visits. You make the basic plans affordable to all. If you want to add to the basic package you can do it as you go along. The plans should be price structured with no difference between insurers. A plan like this will work and cost a fraction of that nightmare called HR 2300. And yes you get rid of the pre existing conditions clause in all plans. Unlike you I am not proud of our government at the moment I am however proud of America. This is still a great country but also has a long way to go. I am a democrat and exactly what do the repubicans who hurl insult deserve besides our sympathy.

I'm a little late to this discussion but it is amazing to read all the comments below and to see how easily some of you paint all democrats and republicans with the same broad brush of political prejudice. You whine how the republicans do this or the democrats have done that. Has anything constructive even been discussed? Those thousands of americans aren't just disagreeing with the democrats they're fed up with all the politicians that refuse to listen to what we have to say. It's been so long since our representatives have had to listen to us they've forgotten how. Both parties are at fault but we are the most guilty because we have, by our appathy, allowed this to happen. This is a monster of our creation, republicans and democrats alike. This constant cross party bickering prevents anything constructive from ever getting done. That's why this great country of ours needs so much work. Now go ahead all of you out there put your political spin on this too.

I agree. It would also be quite a change if we stopped thinking of ourselves as republicans or democrates and started thinking of ourselves as americans. Imagine how much good we could actually get done.

Rush limbaugh is an irritant. The only reason he is still around is the constant press he receives whenever he opens his mouth. If the media goes away so does Limbaugh. We have more importantr things to worry about than signing another petition to condemn a man who feeds on attention.
