This is great in theory, but I wonder how it will be implemented. How can you reclaim a bike that has been chopped up? By piecing together the parts? At least I hope this will deter all the bike thefts. And at least someone is trying to do something about the issue.

Side note: Who are the reasonable residents of this city that are buying these stolen bikes? You are a jerk if you buy off of one of these folks.

What about rolling a wheelchair through human feces, over the half dead bodies, and around the bike chop shops that are laying across the sidewalk? Oh and then walking with a cane and not tripping over the sidewalks that are coming up. Seems more difficult than the barriers.
