I am not condoning her behavior. I just think the news media takes what they want from the story.
Grabbing his face? He said she touched him, not grabbed him. I also believe that these Mclaughlin boys are very mean boys, that are now just going to get meaner. Parents have heard these boys, lie and berate other kids. Their parents ignore it. I am pretty sure they aren't raising ivy league athletes.

Go to Komo website and see what else is being said. Where was it ever said that she ran out onto the field?
When the whole story comes out....and yes you are holey than thou.

These boys are bullies and if your child was being bullied and nothing was being done about it.
They go to the people they say will help and that doesn't stop it. As a parent, what would you do?
The story is not the full story, you have to know there is another side, don't you?
I believe if you knew all of it, you would be less likely to judge her.
"Terrible Parenting" is allowing your child to continue to be the "bully" and the whole town knows it!
She knows it and doesn't care. She fuels the fire. THAT is terrible parenting.
Protecting your child is NOT terrible parenting. How do we KNOW that she called him white trash?
You don't know forsure. Makes good story.

Holy Cow...too bad your hatred for Jodi and her family is shining through. You should know all facts before you hurt peoples reputation the way you have just done in your "above all" rant. We never will because the media spins it the way that gets them the best story. Like I say, parents like you and my "two ivy league athletes" mom and "miss behave" mom are so very holier than tho...

I just read about 2 children who committed suicide because of bullies and nothing being done about it.
I am not saying this was handled well at ALL, but come on....

No it's not Jodi Scheffler and the only reason I know her name is because it is in the newspaper.
My 6 year old child WAS hurt by an adult who thought it was his place to let him know that his swimming in an adult lane was wrong.
We did not press charges for this is someone in the community where we live. We handled the situation amongst us all and I feel alot better about doing it that way then having him arrested!
And yes I don't think the above situation was handled well, but I can't imagine the family of the boy who has taken no responsiblity for anything he has done, is full of "class" either. He won't either if his parent continues on this path.

Dear Behave,
You know the media will write what they know is a "good" story even if they don't have all the facts. So shame on you, especially if you are a mother yourself to not remember there is ALWAYS 2 sides to every story.
Shall I be worried about setting my hand on a shoulder of a child who is upset? Who knows what that could be turned into?
I also have to question why this mothers name was even printed. Has she even been charged?
Do we know the story of these boys and their families? Her name will always be tarnished because of a quick call to the news. Pathetic, hope something like this doesn't happen to you one day.
So you know I am not defending the fact that the mother should never have laid one hand on that child...but as a mom I do know there was another side to this story.
Are you the mom who believes your child can do no wrong? Get your head out of the clouds or wherever it is.

These are 2 parties doing wrong and that always ends bad, in my opinion.
Having this person arrested for the above incident is an overreaction, as was her actions at the ballfield.
Fortunately, the mother will never have another incident as this in her life, a lesson she will never get to forget and has to live with. The father is angry and should be, but will not take responsibility for his part in this situation and by pressing charges, will only encourage his 12 year old to behave in a manner that is disrespectful to adults, probably not even getting disciplined for his actions in this situation. Why else would he be pressing charges?
They could all take it as a learning experience on what NOT to do, but the father is pressing charges and probably going to take this way farther than it should be allowed and to prove what? Our society has so many moral double standards it is so disurbing to me.
I truly hope all involved in this comes to their senses and handle this in a manner that is respectful. To me, this has already gone too far.
