It surged recently during the dot com bubble when many east asians came to the US to work in IT. Places like Silicon Valley & alike have a plethora of cricket leagues.

People need to accept that America is an amalgamation of immigrants, not just those who came through Ellis Island. The US for good or bad chooses not compete with the major international sports other than during the Olympics.

The Soccer/FIFA world cup gets major airtime in the US. That you want someone who's focused on issue & not the patient. As if all patients are lab rats.

Gathering from that & knowing people in all sections of hospital work. I can see a need for personal disconnect for two groups. Surgeons & ER/Triage nurses/doctors, these people need to focus on the issue at present & resolve it, regardless of who the patient is. It's the doctors & nurses which rare to never enter surgery where hospitality needs growth. It may not be about adding more people as much as retraining.

Re: Little Pete's appears to be a goner

I'll be sorry to see that parking lot go. There are few large parking spots in 4 block radius of there & most of the others are full as well. The parking lot across latimer from it, is mostly for the retrofitted apartments.

As someone mentioned earlier about the above versus below ground parking, I'm unsure if underground is feasible? In Chicago, which has had a building boom for the last 10 years, most of their buildings are parking for the first 8 floors.

Sure the city would be better if everyone took public transportation, but as SEPTA isn't reliable & has a limited schedule that plan doesn't work. Transport showing up within 90 seconds of it's scheduled time & available 24/7 doesn't seem to be feasible.

(Many hotels were built for the RNC convention in 2000 & then converted to apartments. We have enough hotels. Has the union situation been resolved for the conventions? Many groups don't come or won't return because of it. It's at around 1/5 of the normal gas stations, but once you remember that most trucks run on it you realize it's around more than you know.

I just got back from the UK, where I made sure to get a diesel rental car as I was planning to drive a lot of miles. I finished up with 1,900 miles on 3 tanks of fuel. The MB 200cdi I was driving was averaging 54 MPG though I assume that's imperial gallons?

Diesel is cleaner for newer European vehicles which have cleaner exhaust systems than US produced vehicles.

It is odd that primary fuel use of the US or Europe isn't swapped. As those in the US usually drive a lot more miles than most Europeans, especially daily.

A diesel hybrid would be the best option, but there's few small diesel engines available from US manufacturers for US hybrid vehicle builds.

BTW, I also drive a bmw diesel in the US due to how many annual miles I drive here.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 “Nexus Experience” Edition Will be a U.S. Exclusive

snapdragon or qualcomm?

Re: New BlackBerry? New BlackBerry

Where BlackBerry has ruled the market is not with it's phones per se, but with it's security. The good & bad of having their own transmission servers is that they can secure the messages in the phone & in the transmission. With their Enterprise Servers (BES) they can securely lock, record or wipe phones which are compromised; but what's clearly plagued them was their transmission network failing 2-3x a year for several hours or days in the past few years.

Only recently has the NSA produced a Android option which equals, & I presume surpasses the security of the Blackberry.

There is no other manufacturer which has provided a way to manage phones remotely. Good Technology had a similar solution, but I haven't seen much on them in years.

It was a foolish mistake for BlackBerry to sell to the consumer market. They owned the corporate & public service market. Sure everyone wanted more social apps, but the phone didn't need to change much to accommodate those. They needed a larger screen & a better browser for the most part.

N.B., As far as my knowledge with them, I started with a 950-2 finished with a 9700. Plus I once managed several BES' with several hundred devices.

Re: Help Me Plan My Trip To South Africa

Camps Bay, south west of CT, is beautiful. Most degrees are about that piece of paper at the end which opens more doors, but it's a lot of money to get it solely for learning. (I made that mistake for my bachelors, i thought I was there to learn....no I was there to get a degree.) Most of those I know with a masters, their employer paid for it & they got a few rungs up the ladder. But it was their experience & knowledge that kept them climbing. [I know that I've learned a lot more by engaging, traveling & reading than I ever did in any of the classes which I've taken over the years. I periodically audit classes at universities too.]

Re: Fresh promises, every day.

I agree with everything but wonder about "Sit-down multi-course dinner at the reception" What would you do instead?

I have been to two Catholic (only stating Catholic, as this wasn't done at any Presbyterian or Episcopalian ones) weddings recently, where they had more food at the cocktails then most people have during the dinner. Then they had a multi course dinner & multiple desserts. (What's wrong with just having cake?). Most weddings I've attended where multi-course dinners, from 3-4 plates before cake. (soup, salad, sorbet, chicken/fish/tofu/steak/pasta) then cake. I'd probably skip the soup, unless served in a cup; else it will be spilled & it's not a 5 star meal, so the palate cleanser isn't needed.

Re: How Can You Not Slow Down in Front of a Pedestrian?

Its not uncommon to push through pedestrians with your car in China, as there's too many people.
