The block under the basket on Oladipo, was a clean block, but that was only after he hit Vic's forearm on the way up.

Pritchard has shown vast improvement, but he still tends to flail at the shooter. As long as he does that, he's gonna get called for it, even if he doesn't touch the shooter.

When Sheehy turns it on, he's awesome. The problem is he gets excited and then loses control... He'll only get better....

I don't believe the return of Christian Watford will be good for this team right now. The problem in the first half of the season was that everyone on the IU team was looking for Christian to score. With him out, they've all had to step up. What will happen when he comes back? I would like to see Christian come back and play in the post. Leave the dribbling and driving to the guards and be the recipient near the basket of the excellent passing of Hulls. We have no inside game and need a presence. I'm not saying he should never shoot a 3, but we need him in the paint.

This team is growing with Watford on the bench, and I'm afraid that will cease when he returns...

J

Re: Video: Northern Idaho College’s Guy-Marc Michel

Quicker that Bawa isn't saying alot though Jerry.... decisive, perhaps, but I didn't see him really getting off the floor or moving well to make blocks.

Re: Send along your get well wishes to Maurice Creek

Thanks for the thrills... awaiting more.....

Re: Run Billy, Run

That's rather sad, both for UK, UK fans, Billy Gillispie and the Media.

We've been through coaching changes and down periods (like now!), and it's never pleasant. Yes, way too many turnovers. I'd be interested to see the stat on % of posessions resulting in TOs.

Free throw shooting in the 1st half left the Hoosiers in a deficit when it could have been close. That made a huge difference.

Minnesota played tight defense, and many of the turnovers were caused by the defensive pressure, both half court and the press. Doesn't make an excuse for it, but Minnesota clearly had the advantage in quickness, size and leaping ability. Our boys hung in there with effort.

We got killed in rebounds (especially offensive), twice as many turnovers as assists, and while we had 7 steals, MN had 14!

Key #s
Pts/min
Moore- 0.08
Taber - 0.00
Pritchard - 0.00
Story - 0.38
Williams - 0.52
Roth - 0.33
Jones - 0.50

TOs/min
Moore- 0.39
Taber - 0.10
Pritchard - 0.04
Story - 0.21
Williams - 0.52
Roth - 0.03
Jones - 0.14

Reb/min
Moore- 0.00
Taber - 0.10
Pritchard - 0.11
Story - 0.04
Williams - 0.21
Roth - 0.09
Jones - 0.11

Ast/min
Moore- 0.08
Taber - 0.0
Pritchard - 0.0
Story - 0.08
Williams - 0.00
Roth - 0.03
Jones - 0.19

Re: Losing streak halted: Hoosiers drop Hawkeyes, 68-60

A great win for the Hoosiers!

Dumes was awesome. The TOs seem to be under control, Pritchard is staying out of foul trouble, blocking out and rebounding has improved. Now looking for work on the free throws.... maybe Crean can get Alford to talk to them... Haha....

I thought they played a great game, the baseline defense was much improved. Dumes played well even though he was out of control a couple of times. Jones III had his best game yet, he was aggressive offensively, knocked down some nice jumpers. Story had a bit of an off game and Roth was active. I actually wish Roth would have taken a few more of the open threes he had.

The trap defense Michigan switched to, really seemed to disrupt the offense, and the disruption continued even after Michigan switched out of it. It seemed to really rattle the offense.

It was good to see Calbert in the audience too!

There was great improvement, we've gone from bad (first 2 games) to played 15 minutes of good basketball, to 30 minutes of good basketball, to 20 minutes of great basketball. Solid, consistent improvement.

Great job Coach!

Go Hoosiers!

Re: Report: Beas Hamga will not be a Hoosier

I think Rivals must be mistaken.....

Re: The M(onday) After: Iowa, or not so bad this time, actually

Maybe I misunderstand what "That positivity aside...". The turnovers were down. We were in need of a sub 20 turnover game and they delivered sub-15. That's a "W" for this game. Obviously they forgot about blocking out and got killed in the paint, but one thing at a time.

70% on free throws wouldn't have won the game, it might have changed how the game played out in the last two minutes.

We need those points consistently from Dumes and hopefully this game is a sign that Jones has shaken most of the rust off.

I suspect keeping the turnovers at 13 will be difficult in the next 2 or 3 games. Less than 20 turnovers will be good against the increased defensive pressure of BigTen opponents.

Let's hope for a game with sub 20 turnovers and a rebounding advantage. Maybe a few points thrown in there as well.

GO HOOSIERS!

Re: Crean talks first semester and Lipscomb

I thought I was going to make it to Bloomington today for the game, but it looks like I'll be watching this one from Cincy... :-(

Re: Report: Jeff Withey to Kansas

We can never have enough big men prospects for 2009.

Re: The Morning After: Northeastern, or, Serenity Now

I think this was the first game where it's difficult to identify improvements. I think there has been improvement game to game, with the exception of this game.

While each game has had it's improvements and regressions, I think overall it's been a progression. I expect games in which there was/is little improvement, no improvement or even regression and remain confident continued improvement will be the norm. I suspect we will see at least one or two horrifying games in the conference season.

Brace yourself for them. I suspect one will be Purdue and it's likely Illinois will be up to crush us. Michigan State, Michigan and Ohio State have shown they are capable of high caliber play and could lay a severe beating on us.

While there will be setbacks, these guys have shown they will continue to work hard.

To me, reducing the turnover rate is something that can be coached (during a game) with an experienced team. This team's turnover rate is simply a factor of inexperience and reducing the turnover is a product of teaching, not coaching. As Coach teaches (in practice) these players through the season, and they learn and mature, we should see the turnover rate drop. It's going to take patience.

Who else is playing this many freshmen this many minutes? It makes sense we're the fifth worse team for turnovers.

Did you see the stats on the freshmen displayed during the game? I don't recall what they all were (one was points or minutes/game which I think we were first), and the others we were 2nd and there were at least 4 or 5 stats. That either means we've got some great freshmen or we're playing alot of freshmen alot of minutes.

I thought we were going to see something from Daniel Moore in this game. He started out well, driving and dishing, a layup, a three pointer. Then when the 3-2 zone came in, we had no offense. You can bet they're practicing againse a 3-2 in practice this week.

Re: The Morning After: Northeastern, or, Serenity Now

While Rivers may possess defensive prowess, however, this team needs offensive help. While his turnover rate may help offensively by preserving more offensive possessions. We still need some offensive consistency. Story, Williams, Jones, Roth, any of them could become that help.

I am hopeful that well see these guys develop skills offensively and defensively this year. I would also hope that as the year goes on, we'll see some offensive consistency develop.
